(OK) Petzold more romantic than ever, even with two succesive lovers, the second one bigger and eternal. Nice history and diving background....

Undine works as a historian lecturing on Berlin's urban development. But when the man she loves leaves her, the ancient myth catches up with her. Undine has to kill the man who betrays her and return to the water.

"First viewing - May 20th Hulu Went into this one blindly based off a recommendation, & wound up loving it. Lots of subverting of my expectations, plus a cast that excels, all of which makes for a rewarding watch. Afterwards I dug into the historical meaning of Undine, & my appreciation jumped up a little more. I'll definitely revisit it & be encouraging others to give it a chance."

Sanotaan tässä kuitenkin, että Christian Petzold vaikuttaa melko aliarvostetulta ohjaajalta maassamme, vaikka kaikki häneltä näkemäni elokuvat ovat olleet mielenkiintoisella tavalla historiaan ja kulttuuriin ankkuroituja. Tekijä on siis ilmiselvästi sivistynyt ihminen, eikä pelkää näyttää sitä: tästä syystä hänen elokuvissaan on ollut monia tasoja niiden käyden dialogia elokuvan historian ja ylipäänsä kulttuurin kanssa, mikään ei ole ollut liian se"
