Where The Truth Lies Reviews
An average movie
Posted : 13 years ago on 16 May 2011 09:11Eve since I have seen โExotica', I have been following Atom Egoyanโs career and, therefore, I was really eager to check this movie. It seems that Egoyan is a pretty forgotten director but he made some very interesting flicks in the 90's. Anyway, coming back to our main feature, even though this movie might not to be among his best work, there was still some quality about it. Indeed, I really loved the mood and the way it was directed. On top of that, Kevin Bacon and Colin Firth both delivered some good perfomances as well. On the other hand, I'm not so sure if Alison Lohman was the best actress for this part. I mean, she is quite talented (it is really too bad that she seems pretty much retired at only 35 years old) and very charming but she just looked so young and maybe someone more mature would have been better for this character. Furthermore, even though the story was rather spellbinding at first, later on, it kind of lost focus at some point and that was too bad. To conclude, in spite of its flaws, it is actually a decent flick and it think it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

Pure Trash
Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 28 November 2006 06:38We all know that Kevin Bacon is a has-been wash-up these days, but it suprised me to see Colin Firth join him in this mess of a film. Alison Lohman is typically painful to watch, but after a dull dry start, with the occasional explicit sex scenes (wife looked at me like I rented a porno), I'm glad I skipped to the end and found out what the whole 'murder mystery' plot line was, (and it has a sick GAY twist to it at the end) so I could just shut off the film and not waste 2hrs of my life on such crap.
