"First viewing - July 8th In Taika we trust, & while this film falls short of its predecessor it still manages to be the second best Thor film so far. The humor mostly works well, though one running gag far overstays its welcome. The cast is terrific even if some of them are underutilized. The story could use some better fleshing out in places & just a little breathing room now & then, as the emotional moments don't fully hit. The shadow planet scenes are gorgeous. “Marvel is heading for a disastrous and sad MCU phase 4.Wink-nudge humour feels smug throughout and mostly misses the mark. Natalie Portman absolutely shafted. Korg becomes irritating beyond belief. Cringeworthy more than anything else.Bale’s death gives us a glimpse of the movie this could’ve been if we’d gone more than half an inch below the surface of anything. Crowe’s drunken Greek uncle was good fun, can’t wait to see that joke flogged to death in the next film.Ragnarok was a good film, but Love and Thunder this just ended up looking desperate to be funny.

The first time around, of course, like everyone else, I was really eager to see this new Thor sequel directed by Taika Waititi. Well, to be honest, in my opinion, the damned thing turned out to be rather overhyped, which was in fact already the case with ‘Ragnarok’. I mean, there is no denying that it was still a lot of fun to see Waititi going nuts with so many wild ideas and many of them were just hilarious (I will probably never forget these screaming goats).
