An acquired taste

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this movie but since there was a really nice cast involved, I was quite eager to check it out. Eventually, I have to admit that I had some rather mixed feelings about the damned thing. Indeed, on one hand, it  was really far from being flawless (in fact, Roger Ebert really didn’t like it at all for example). First of all, there were just too many characters and most of them were not developed enough (for example, Lena Olin is barely in the movie and she barely uttered a word at all) and also, some parts of the story just didn't work. On the other hand, in spite of all these issues, I still think I actually enjoyed the damned thing. Indeed, the directing was decent with a nice mood and , the cast was really interesting (Don Cheadle, Ryan Gosling, Jena Malone, Lena Olin, Kevin Spacey, Michelle Williams, Sherilyn Fenn) . Among them, I was above all impressed by  Ryan Gosling, Don Cheadle and Kevin Spacey (though, Spacey’s character was not developed enough). Eventually, I can’t help thinking my rating might be too generous here, I guess it is an acquired taste but I think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre,

The United States of Leland review

Most people that watch this movie don't see anything fantastic about it. Most people would say "okay, it was a good movie, but I wouldn't watch it again" or "I have no idea of what happened in this movie because I fell asleep in it".
Honestly, most people are completely mistaken.
This is not only a movie - it's a piece of art. It's the kind of movie that you watch and it will haunt you the rest of the day, the rest of the week or maybe the rest of the month. Every phrase in it has so much hidden in that everytime that you watch this movie, there will be something new about it.
It's the kind of movie that you just NEED to watch. Specially if you're in need of a slap in your face to wake up for life.
Because you have to believe that life is more than the sum of its parts, kiddo.
