The Trigger Effect (1996) review

I have actually never heard of this before. I ended up coming across this while exploring Netflix. I read the description and it caught my attention. I also think the cast is pretty nice for something under the radar. This is the only film written by James Burke. As for David Koepp he is really well known for writing and directing. As a director he was unfortunately behind Mortdecai. He did also do Premium Rush and Secret Window which were both okay. As a writer he succeeded with many like the first two Jurassic Parks and Mission: Impossible. His failure however was only Zathura so far in my opinion. Well that's an interesting beginning. Wow I swear it's crazy seeing these actors so much younger. Profoundly evil sounds about right. Now it shall soon begin. The way the world is now I could see it going even more insane if it happened. Man I bet he doesn't know how truly close he was there. It's crazy how much we rely on power so much these days. I wouldn't trust that guy with a gun the way he is being with it. Some people really aren't cut out for a broken world. I wonder how that could be possible. Tension is definitely arising. It's definitely a different kind of take on the whole post apocalyptic kind of story. It's already hard to trust Michael Rooker seeing as he always plays a villainous sort of character. Well damn that was pretty intense! Desperate calls call for desperate measures. Okay that was not how I was expecting it to all end. It was a truly interesting look at our society. That was actually really well done. It isn't about the why of the situation, but rather the effect it has on the people who experience it. It isn't perfect, but it's a great watch. It's a bit on the slow side as well. I recommend checking it out though for sure. Especially if you like apocalyptic types of movies.

An average movie

David Koepp is above all a famous screen-writer but, after a while, he decided to take his chance as a director and this was his directing dรฉbut. I noticed this flick didn't get much love but I don't think it is that bad at all. To beginning with, I thought that the whole concept was actually terrific and I really wondered how the whole thing would evolve. Unfortunately, the execution was not that good, I'm afraid. I'm not sure if we should blame Koepp or the actors involved (Kyle MacLachlan, Elisabeth Shue, Dermot Mulroney) but the whole thing was just not really convincing or spellbinding enough. Above all, I Probably didn't care much about the characters and their love triangle. Still, in spite of its flaws, I thought it was a tense and entertaining thriller and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
