Pop Culture Phenomenon Films: 00’s (111 movies items)

" In the year of our Lord, 2004 a very, very controversial film about the last days of Jesus Christ, was released. Mel Gibson's well-publicized production The Passion of the Christ concerns the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth. The dialogue is spoken in the ancient Aramaic language, along with Latin and Hebrew. In the Garden of Gethsemane near the Mount of Olives, Jesus (James Caviezel) is betrayed by Judas Iscariot. Jesus is condemned to death for blasphemy and brought before "

Movie Scenes Where Actors Bled For Real (8 movies items)

" While filming the intense whipping scene for The Passion of the Christ, a board was set up behind actor Jim Caviezel. The actors using the whips were supposed to land their blows on the board, rather than Caviezel's back. Unfortunately, the actors didn't have the best aim. One performer hit Caviezel so hard with the whip that he knocked the air out of him. Although Caviezel gave his coworker a piece of his mind, a few moments later he was hit again, this time opening a gash in his back. The i"

Most Dangerous Movies Ever Made (13 movies items)

"Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ was an interesting retrospective on the life of the Son of God, and the actor who portrayed Jesus, Jim Caviezel went through some pretty tragic circumstances because of his inclusion. Besides the toll that the role took on his future career in Hollywood, Caviezel was subjected to severe physical torture while filming. He was whipped twice by accident by a member of the crew, which left a 14-inch scar on his back. He dislocated his shoulder while carrying t"

Hated or Divisive Movies That I LOVED (47 movies items)

"Often Hated For: Being a religious movie with insane amounts of gore directed by Mel Gibson(during another controversial career moment). Reason I Love It: Quite simply it is a visually arresting depiction of the one of the most well-known stories of all time. Not only that but it interweaves this with a very artistically rich interpretation of the grander spiritual elements in play. Gibson's renown dedication of realism adds an extra layer of discomfort, tragedy, and cathartic suffering to the "
