"Outside of Aardman Productions, Laika is rapidly becoming my favorite makers of stop-motion motion pictures. And not just in my eyes, but most likely in the whole of the film community also. And when you look at their short list of movies that they've made so far, it's easy to see why. Coraline, ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link, and my favorite of the bunch (again... so far), The Boxtrolls. Based on the book called Here Be Monsters! which sorta solidified the "whole" mytholo"

Laika has great ability when it comes to seamless stop-motion and their stories are clever and quirky. This film doesn't go off-trend but it does lack in comedy where there should be. The characters, especially the trolls named after their previous box contents, are memorable and it's a good addition to the Laika brand.

"This screening was actually just me and 2 other people, a mother and her young son. The son was so terrified by the film, that he started crying hysterically at a few points. Eventually, the mother finally took him out of the theater, and they did not return."
