An average movie

Back in the 90's, I was a huge fan of Abel Ferrara, especially after watching ‘Bad Lieutenant’ which remains one of the best movies ever made in my opinion and I believe that most of his work he released at the time was really interesting. As a result, I was really eager to check this flick even if it didn’t get much love when it was released. Unfortunately, even though I believe that this movie had the potential to be another mesmerizing dark and steamy thriller from Ferrara, I’m afraid it was a failure and, from then on, it seemed that the guy pretty much lost his touch.  Indeed, Ferrara had a very intriguing cast, especially with Claudia Schiffer and Béatrice Dalle (Dalle would be actually caught with cocaïne during the shooting and then banned to come back in the US, pretty much ruining her potential international career) and the mood was interesting but the plot was seriously murky and, unfortunately, it would become a trademark in most of the movies directed by Ferrara afterwards. To conclude, in spite of its flaws, it was still a decent watch though and I think it is worth a look, especially if you are interested in this director.
