Honestly, beforehand, I have never heard of this movie but since it was starring Robert Duvall, I thought I should give it a try anyway. Actually, it is also one of the few movies directed by Robert Duvall, I thought personally that it was actually pretty good and it seems that it was a really personal project for Duvall. Indeed, he wrote himself the script in the 1980s and was turned down by many studios before he financed the film himself. Eventually, he payed $4 million of his own money to complete the film. It is not really surprising that nobody was interested. I mean, I think it was a really interesting project but there is no real plot and nothing really attractive for a studio. On the other hand, I can understand why Robert Duvall wanted so desperately to go through with this flick. Indeed, the main character is really fascinating, he has many many layers and Duvall gives here one of his best performance ever. I must admit that, expect for this guy, there is not much else going on this feature but I thought the main character was just spellbinding to watch. To conclude, it is an unknow, underrated and forgotten gem but it is actually pretty good and it is definitely worth a look.
