Thank God He Met Lizzie (1997) review

Posted : 8 years, 11 months ago on 16 June 2015 08:32

I went to watch this film at an Oz film festival. My reason to go watch was Cate Blanchett. One would assume if a favourite actress plays the title role, then her screen time would be for at least half the film. At least.
I'm not going or planning to spoil anything about the film if you haven't seen it yet. I will however confirm that Cate Blanchett's screen time is lesser than I had imagined. But she looks like she walked out of the sky. Her beauty is second to none, her performance is incomparable and her wedding dress in the film was lucky to be on her. Cate was absolutely, ridiculously beautiful. I cannot stress how beautiful she was in this film. So I thank the director, cinematographer, editor and film making crew for showing me a very beautiful Cate Blanchett from the late 90s. I must've been in 7th grade when the film had come out first. Even if I wasn't entirely happy to watch this film, kind of feels good to have watched this film. Again, I watched for Cate Blanchett.

The film itself is not bad. It is a decent and bold Romantic Drama Tragedy. The film takes it's own time to explore the lives of the characters in detail. The actors were all right. Lead players however, performed very well. I love Cate Blanchett too much, so I could not miss this film.
