Sergius, the once knowledgeable professor who is slowly getting overwhelmed with a crazy obsession, invents the time machine. The speed of the machine exceeds that of the rotating of the Earth and thus enables one to fly back in time. He promises both his wealth and his daughter's hand to the person who dares to sit in the strange gadget. The adventurous Count Ákos Tibor is willing to take the risk, but the machine crashes down at the start and the young man is hurt.
