A good movie

I remember it very well, I saw this movie when it was released at the time and I was just about 17 years old which must be the perfect age to watch a movie like this one. Back in those days, I was just discovering cinema. I mean, I had been watching movies for many years but mostly commercial features and, at the time, I realized that there was something else to seek in motion pictures, something more meaningful and artistic and I never looked back ever since. Sure, if you compare this flick to what Bernardo Bertolucci's work from the 70's, it is actually too light and rather weak but it was probably the first movie he made that I saw and I thought it was rather charming. Indeed, I always thought that there was something whimsical about this feature, not like many annoying Hollywood romantic-comedies, and I thought it was quite neat. Liv Tyler was just starting at the time and she was definitely quite charming but I don't think she ever fulfilled our expectations. To conclude, to be honest, the whole thing was maybe a little too pretentious for its own good but I still think it is pretty good, especially if you are interested in Bertolucci's work.

Stealing Beauty review

So many people seem to dislike this movie but I'll never understand why that is. Upon first viewing, I admit it's a little dull and it seems as though the director is lazy. However, after watching it a second and third time I understood it's meaning and the fact that I adore both Liv Tyler and Jeremy Irons anyway helps make it more enjoyable.
