Is this a movie? is this a f*** movie???? Truly useless. The slooow scenes do not have any reason: why filming showers or dances for 5 minutes? The best way to waste time and get angry

Since Sofia  Coppola is usually an interesting director, I was quite eager to watch this movie and since it won the Golden Lion at Venice  Film Festival, I hoped it would be pretty good. Unfortunately, it turned out to only slightly better than 'The Bling Ring', the movie Coppola made afterwards. One of her trademarks is that nothing much really happen in her movies, which is not necessarily a problem, but this movie must the least eventful  one she has made so far. Basically, for 90 mins, you follow some famous movie star doing pretty much nothing and, unsurprisingly, the guy feels pretty bad about it but, even though I wasn't really bored, I don't think I really cared either. Apparently, the only meaningfull  thing in his life was his daughter with whom he had never spent much time before and, indeed, at some point, I started to feel a connection with these 2 characters but it happened way too late in the movie. I don’t know, maybe she tried to show how vacuous and meaningless the life of a star can be but, once again, I just didn’t care much. At least, I have to admit it,  Stephen Dorff  did pull it off fairly nicely, even though this material was rather thankless, in my opinion. To conclude, even though it didn’t really work for me, it was still a decent watch and I think it is still worth a look, especially if you're interested in Sofia Coppola's work.

Ho amato la Coppola di lost in translation ma Somewhere è probabilmente uno dei film più antipatici che ho visto quest'anno (con tanto di 5 € di biglietto).
Due ore sprecate. Due ore infinite.
Capacità tecniche ottime per la regista ma la storia, e come questa è stata messa in piedi, hanno fatto letteralmente pena.
Un film d'autore che ha molto "d'autore" e ben poco del film.
Sarò limitato io, sarò fatto per un altro cinema ma Somewhere, con le premesse mediatiche con cui partiva, non sono riuscito a digerirlo.
Un lungo sbadiglio privo di qualsiasi cosa.
A volte sembra persino vergognarsi di volerci farci sorridere. A volte sembra vergognarsi di farci emozionare.
Anche il più banale pretesto per farci scendere una lacrima l'avrei apprezzato, ma neanche questo c'era.
Non c'era nulla.

Sofia Coppola ci illustra nuovamente un'altra realtà, la vita quotidiana di un attore americano, con i suoi pregi e difetti ma soprattutto con i problemi personali che anche una star ha.
Johnny è amato da "tutti" ma non piu dalla sua ex-moglie con cui ha avuto una figlia che vede solo nei weekend...
quando si incontrano lei è felice, si divertono, ma lei sa che a causa della sua cariera non ci sarà mai nei momenti importanti.
Questa storia mostra come la ricchezza possa portare alla noia, già xkè se si ha tutto quello che si sogna e la fantasia non partorisce nuovi desideri diventa tutto scontato, non c'è piu competizione, niente piu barriere, ne ostacoli da superare, il capolinea dell'anima.
A quel punto si perde il contatto con la realtà e il valore della vita non ha piu significato, l'unico rimedio è abbandonare tutto, allontanarsi dal lavoro, dalle persone, dalla ricchezza ed essere liberi a contatto con la natura, madre dei nostri cuori e desideri che ci ha creato per uno scopo preciso, non per vivere, ma per superare ogni giorno degli ostacoli xkè nulla possa essere scontato ed apprezzare ogni istante questo fantastico dono... per sopravvivere
