An average movie

Posted : 9 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2015 10:10

Honestly, it has been a while since I have seen this flick so maybe I should watch it again at some point to make up my mind for good about the damned thing. As far as I can remember, I think it must be the only science-fiction feature directed by Woody Allen. Of course, it is and remains a comedy but it was set in a futuristic world which was something quite unexpected from this director and this combination sounded really awesome. Unfortunately, even though I thought it was fairly amusing, I can't say I was really blown my away by the whole thing though. I don't know, maybe at the time, it was considered as really original but the whole concept of a guy who is cryogenically frozen in 1973 and defrosted 200 years later sounded rather weak and pedestrian to me, especially after watching many episodes of 'Futurama' and 'Austin Powers' . I know, those have been made way after so maybe I'm not being really fair with this movie but I just thought it wasn't really funny. To conclude, even though I thought it was slightly disappointing and even though I believe it is a minor effort for this director, it is still definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in Woody Allen's work.
