An average movie

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this flick but the poster was so cute and the people involved were quite interesting so I was quite eager to check it out. Basically, they took over the same idea developed in ‘When Harry met Sally…’ and added a gimmick on top of it (you just spend one single day - the 15th July - with both or one of the characters every year for about 15 years). Well, this idea was interesting but it was still just a gimmick and I don’t think it really improved the story. On top of that, right from the very first scene, there was some huge chemistry between Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway, who both gave some very solid performances, so there was no reasonable reason why they shouldn’t end up together earlier. I mean, basically, they tried to convince you that Anne Hathaway was an ugly duckling which was rather pathetic and that Jim Sturgess was some kind of douche-bag but, at the end of the day, they were both some witty and cute kids who were meant to be together so the whole thing was terribly plot-driven. Still, it remains a well made romantic feature, there was still something interesting about this relationship and I think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

"One Day" Could Have Been So Much Better.......

A Romantic comedy with grater ambition of being different often calls for disaster. One day avoids falling into that but at the end it leaves you unfulfilled. It Could have been so much better given the interesting premise, instead it preferred to remain very unintuitive in it's core.
It tells the story of Emma & Dexter, how they met on 15th July 1988 and keeps on the same day over the years till 2011. So in short it's a story of 23 15th July spread across the years. I really liked the way it started but slowly the story looses it's grip. The narration is so repetitive and uninspiring that after a while everything seems so boring. But the biggest flaw the film has is the ending. The twist is so uncalled for and the narration still continues there after quite pointlessly.
But the story scores some good points too. Besides being different, the story really spends time to focus onto the demons of Dexter which slowly causes his downfall. The acting is good. Anne Hathaway is really very good as Emma and Jim Sturgess does his part as a lost soul,Rest of the cast fills in quite well. So in a nutshell
One day is a very good effort which was bogged down largely because of shabby direction.
I am going 6 out of 10 for one day, a film which had so much promise but the end result is nothing great.

A movie a love story spread over 20 years with a sad end.

Emma and Dexter meet on the night of their college graduation – July 15th, 1988. Emma a working-class girl of principle and ambition who dreams of making the world a better place. Dexter is a wealthy charmer who dreams that the world will be his playground.

The movie shows the next two decades, every July 15th July, how "Em" and "Dex" are going through theie live with their friendship ebbs and flows with the passing of the years. Through love and loss, heartbreak and success, hopes fulfilled and dreams shattered, they experience the grandeur of life.

Somewhere along their journey, these two people realize that what they are searching and hoping for has been there for them all along but once they united together they dont have much time to live together and a tragedy hits there lives leaving dexter devastated and the only hope left for him now is the little daughter of his from his failed marriage from previous wife.

A slow but touching story of love.

It was a pretty good movie, however I am one of those people who wanted a different ending for this movie. I expected it to be alot better, and was mislead by the commercials haha, but overall the acting was good. I think that the movie tries to tell the audience a certain message.
