Norm of the North Review

Posted : 6 years, 1 month ago on 1 March 2018 10:37

I wanted to post my first review on this website of this movie because I don't understand why people seem to hate this so much. People complain about the animation, but I've seen worse (far worse in other major pictures). In fact, I like the animation here. I also liked the characters (the lemmings were especially cute), the music, some of the jokes, and most of all the very pretty scenery.

It's beautiful when he's at home...

and it's beautiful when he's in New York.

Overall, I just thought it was a cute time killer with an easy to follow plot and beautiful scenes.

So yeah there's this. To my knowledge it's quite awful. Free Birds was awful. Can this be worse than that. The plot sounds quite ridiculous. At least it has an interesting cast. I haven't heard of anything by the director Trevor Wall. It takes four writers to come up with this. Daniel and Steven Altiere who are known for their lackluster sequels. The other two I have never heard of. The animation is kind of dumpy looking. So normally a person would be pretty confused or taken aback by a talking animal. Okay the addition of the killer whale there was random, stupid, and plain nonsense. I really don't think living in the Arctics is very practical considering. Is it necessary to add to that sign. I'm pretty sure the point is driven in from the first bit. That is just plain wrong! I don't think that should be in a kids movie. Okay that little dance thing where they joined made no sense. Is his nose flapping up and down a bit? I like how absolutely nobody notices while carrying him that he is really heavy yet we get all the moments where he sits and breaks something. Did they really just make a gay joke in a kids movie? That's very unfunny. How could nobody notice how rigged that was? Really that's such a lazy name for an operation. Buses are pretty big so I don't see how exactly that was possible. I think it would have been better without that fake out. He was actually twerking. That is not appropriate for children to think is okay. That ending makes me believe that the sequels are going to get the Air Bud treatment. Yes there are at least two sequels in the works even with how awful this was and did. The jokes are stale and sometimes a little upsetting considering the target audience. I was also bored through a lot of it and ended up doing other things before finishing it. It was pretty weak.
