Komedia romantyczna jest dość niewdzięcznym gatunkiem filmowym. Trudno bowiem wprowadzić do niego jakieś zmiany, by nie narazić się na odrzucenie głównych odbiorców tego typu produkcji. Donald Petrie w filmie "Jak stracić chłopaka w 10 dni" udowodnił, że sztuka ta choć jest trudna, to jednak nie pozostaje niemożliwa. Czy udało mu się ten wyczyn powtórzyć w nowym filmie?

Główną rolę w filmie powierzono Lindsay Lohan, która za oceanem jest jedną z najpopularniejszych aktorek. Choć ma dopiero 20 lat, to już zawojowała Hollywood i osiągnęła znacznie więcej niż niejedna jej konkurentka dobijająca do sędziwego wieku. Nie dziwi więc fakt, że twórcy filmu postanowili blask Lohan wyeksploatować do granic możliwości. Pomijam już fakt, że dwudziestolatka gra kobietę na kierowniczym stanowisku. Przyjmijmy jednak, że w Hollywood wszystko jest możliwe. Piękna aktorka pokazuje się tu co chwila w innej kreacji, a kamera w każdej scenie skupia się tylko na niej. Samo w sobie nie jest to aż tak tragiczne, gdyż aktorka rzeczywiście ma charyzmę i wnosi na ekrany powiew świeżości. Jednak sama ciężaru filmu nie dała rady unieść. Scenariusz jest kiepski i zbliża całą produkcję do kina familijnego o wybujałych, dydaktycznych aspiracjach. Morał jest bowiem nam tak nachalnie zaserwowany, że trudno jest go przyjąć bez odczucia niesmaku. Pozostali członkowie obsady nie zachwycają. Wydaje mi się, że dobrano ich w ten sposób, by w żadnym wypadku nikt z nich choć na chwilę nie wzbudził większego zainteresowania niż odtwórczyni głównej roli. Przekłada się to na absolutny brak chemii pomiędzy dwójką zakochanych postaci. A to już jest ostateczny gwóźdź do trumny w gatunku komedii romantycznych.

Ścieżka dźwiękowa to jedna z niewielu rzeczy, które w "Just my luck" nie sprawiają zawodu. Miłe dla ucha piosenki oddają lekki charakter opowiedzianej historii. W niektórych scenach jednak podkładem dźwiękowym zbyt nachalnie chce się podkreślić wydźwięk niektórych wydarzeń. Szczególnie wtedy, gdy twórcy próbują nam uświadomić kolejną "wstrząsającą" prawdę o złożoności życia, potrzebie miłości itp.

"Całe szczęście" za oceanem nie spełniło pokładanych w nim nadziei. Tyczy się to zarówno producentów, jak i odbiorców. Dla samej Lohan jednak wielu odważyło się zaryzykować. U nas aktorka nie ma takiej pozycji. Nie dziwi więc fakt, że dystrybutor pominął rozpowszechnienie tej produkcji na rynku kinowym. O czymś to świadczy.

Before becoming above all a tabloid feature, Lindsay Lohan was actually a promising actress, even though it does feel like it was a very long time ago. To be honest, she didn't do anything really amazing back in those days but you could see she had some talent and that she could really become huge if she picked up the right movies. Will she ever recover from her destructive lifestyle? Difficult to tell... I mean, Robert Downey Jr. was a massive drug addict and nowadays, he is one of the most bankable and popular actors in the world but I’m afraid he is more a blessed exception. Anyway, just before becoming a real mess, Lindsay Lohan made this really average romantic-comedy and it wasn’t really good I’m afraid. Indeed, the whole thing was just standard romantic-comedy routine, it was completely predictable and not funny whatsoever and I was rather bored during the whole thing. I have to admit it though, this movie was made for a target audience and since I don’t belong to this demographic group, it is not really surprising that I didn’t like it. To conclude, I didn’t really like this flick and I don’t think it is really worth a look, except maybe if you are curious to see Lindsay Lohan when she looked healthier (even though in this case you'd better watch 'Mean girls' anyway).

When I saw the trailer for 'Just My Luck (2006)' I really wanted to see it, because it looked like quite a good humoured family comedy. But I missed my opportunity at the cinema - luckily, as it now turns out. Having just finished watching it on TV I felt compelled to write this review as a warning to others. To sum it up this whole movie is just a vehicle to promote the British band McFly to a wider audience! Yes, it is interspersed with some attempts at comedy and very badly done character building, but it isn't enough, probably because there just isn't time with so many McFly singles being played.

The plot without McFly certainly has the potential to make it a classic, but not in this incarnation. Timing is everything in comedy and its rare to see comedy done so badly. One scene which really bugged me is a 'too much washing powder in the washing machine' gag, which is rather trite in itself. But in this movie what makes it totally unbearable is that you first see the character actually noticing that there is too much powder and yet they do nothing about it and then turn the machine on, which oh surprise surprise, bubbles away!? I'm sorry that's not unlucky, it is just plain stupid! There are other examples of poorly done humour, but too few and too poor to bother mentioning.

Take my advise, if you really want to watch 'Just My Luck' make sure its the 1957 film of the same name, staring Norman Wisdom - its totally different, thankfully!
