Based on a play by Georges Neveux and raised in a tone between dreamlike and eerie, the film develops a fantasy filled with allegorical resonances. Marcel Carné achieved with "Juliette ou La clef des songes" which I think deserves to be considered his best film "installed" in the poetic realism of which he is their peak rating.
