Posted : 2 years, 5 months ago on 12 December 2021 12:50

(MU) Kar wai stylizes and makes the stoy with scherzos, chang of motion, arbitrary music, some secuences of edition, ellypses, and two hot actor and actresses. This is vintage ahead of time...

In the Mood for Love review

Such great mise-en-scene, such great acting and the whole movie felt so poignant. It feels like you're standing on the precipice of a great love story, but never really found the courage to jump. When you're done with the movie, you're left with the slight regretful feeling of "what if".

A very good movie

I already saw this movie but since it was such a long time ago, I was really eager to check it out again. In fact, I did see this flick in the movie theater when it was released almost 20 yearsย  ago and, at the time, it was a massive critical success so I had some rather high expectations. I donโ€™t know, maybe I was too young but, at the time, even though I did like it, I can't say I thought it was great like everyone seemed to think. Indeed, I thought it was a little bit frustrating and I wish this couple would just kiss each other and move on with their life instead of remaining stuck for some rather obscure reasons. And, yet, after re-watching the damned thing, I have to admit that I was really impressed this time around. To be honest, I was still not really fascinated by the story but the whole thing looked just so amazing, it is easily Wong Kar-Wai's best directing effort and I would go further and I argue that it is one of the most gorgeous movies ever made. Anyway, to conclude, I'm really glad I gave this movie a 2nd chance, I now really love the damned thing and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre or if you are interested in Wongย  Kar-Wai's work.

Stunning, simply stunning

One of the most beautifully made films that I've ever seen. Stunning cinematography, touching score, some brilliantly written dialogue and a brilliant on screen pairing of Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung Chiu Wai. Has all the elements of a masterpiece and no doubt one the most un-appreciated films that I can think of.One of my favourite films. Absolutely blew me away. Wong Kar Wai is an absolute genius of a director.

Tragically restrained

A graceful, romantic defeatist wrestles with her circumstance aided by her neighbourly partner in crime.

Engrossing cinematography
