A pretty lame movie
Posted : 13 years, 5 months ago on 26 November 2010 08:39Seriously, Nicolas Cage’s career has become so underwhelming lately that this movie doesn’t seem so bad after all. However, it still doesn’t mean that it was any good either, far from it. Indeed, what a lame movie... In fact, Cage shouldn’t be the only one to blame. Indeed, it's actually rather difficult to choose between Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes which one of them gave the weakest performance. At least, Eva Mendes did look lovely, as usual, but she didn’t have much else to offer. It's really too bad because the whole thing actually really had some potential. Indeed, Ghost Rider must be one of the most interesting comic-book characters out there, some kind of mean SOB and they could have made something awesome (the recent ‘Deadpool’ displayed that you can deliver a darker comic-book adaptation with some tremendous results). Unfortunately, they really messed up this story and I was rather amazed about how underwhelming the whole thing was after all. Surprisingly, even though this movie was a critical failure and even though it wasn’t even really a box-office success, they still made a sequel 4 years later which turned out to be just as weak as this first installment. To conclude, even though I have seen worse, it was still one of the weakest super-hero features I have seen and I don’t think it is really worth a look.

Dull and dumb but with great effects!
Posted : 14 years, 4 months ago on 2 January 2010 12:37Nicolas Cage was the thing that ruined it for me because he was completely miscast for Johnny Blaze. He was far too old to play such a young character. His black hair looked absolutely ridiculous. It didn't suit him at all. Of what happened to Blaze as a child, I couldn't see any drama or emotion at all within Nicolas Cage. Eva Mendes didn't make it any better either. I think that is what we get most of the time with supporting females in superhero films. Others include, Katie Holmes in Batman Begins, Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns, Jennifer Garner in Daredevil and Jennifer Connelly in Hulk. Wes Bentley was pretty scary in this film as the son of the Devil.
The directing of Ghost Rider was good as far as action and visual effects are concerned but wasn't that good as far as actors are concerned. The action scenes are really intense and fun but that didn't completely satisfy me when I walked out of cinema. The script was very flat in my opinion. Ghost Rider focused more on technical qualities rather than acting, directing and writing.
Ghost Rider is an average that is more of a bad film than a good film. It is Nicolas Cage's worst performance that I think made him a bad actor nowadays. Ghost Rider could have been a lot better. There is going to be a sequel. I will see it but I don't be excited about it.

Redefining Bad
Posted : 15 years, 8 months ago on 10 September 2008 11:39This film doesn't. Granted, I'm not a fan of the comics (though if I was, I think I'd be even more pissed off by this movie), and while I like Nick Cage, he's not one of my all-time favorites either. Still, I know that there's a good story in the comics, and I know Cage can act. So how did they end up with this crap?
The film doesn't even feel like an homage. It feels like a bad computer game. You know, the sort that end up in the bargain bin a week after they come out, because no one likes it? The effects are poor, the script terrible, and the acting is horrendous--and that even from Cage, who I have seen do a million times better than this.
Overall? This is simply not worthy. Don't waste your time.

the worst comic film ever
Posted : 16 years, 10 months ago on 9 July 2007 11:43Years later, now a famous motorcyclist, Johnny gets a proposal from Mephistopheles: he will release the contract if Johnny becomes the 'Ghost Rider' and defeat his son, Blackheart (Wes Bentley), who wants 1,000 evil souls and hell on earth.
I've never heard of the Ghost Rider comic, so when I started the movie, I didn't realize what I was getting into. Now as a comic book character, Ghost Rider is all right although he is not that interesting.
The plot is one that many movies have already shown. Nothing original there.
The actors!! Oh my. This honestly looked like a made-for-tv movie. Nicolas Cage was just too lousy. The way he was delivering his lines! It looked like he was suffering half the time.
The special effects are not that stunning. They're okay by my book. Nothing out of the ordinary.
My family and I watched this together last night, and we all particularly agreed that this was a stupid, badly done movie. I name it the worst comic film ever. (And I've seen most of the recent productions.)
If you must watch it, do so at your own risk.
