I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since it was Adrian Lyne’s directing debut and since I was always had a weak spot for Jodie Foster so, I was quite eager to check it out. To be honest, I was slightly worried with the opening scene which was rather sleazy and misguided. Fortunately, the rest of the movie turned out to be actually pretty good. Indeed, it was actually  quite an interesting and realistic depiction of teenage girls, especially girls from the Valley, and I enjoyed it much more than ‘Valley Girl’ which I just watched a couple of days ago. In fact, I have to admit that the characters in ‘Valley Girl’ might have been actually more reaslitic but they were also so vapid and shallow and, in this movie, these girls were all so much more interesting and entertaining.  On top of that, I did appreciate the fact that these girls were sexually aware, drinking booze and experimenting with drugs. Not that it made them cool but, this way, they became then much more relatable than the perfect girls you usually get in your average Hollywood picture. Concerning the rest of the movie, even though they tried to remain realistic, it was slightly too random for my taste but it wasn’t a big deal. Anyway, to conclude, even if it was nothing really groundbreaking, it was a decent watch and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
