Péter Sóváry, a popular provincial actor, falls in love with Ibolya Pintér, the pretty supernumerary of the company, but the girl prefers wealth and career to Péter's love, therefore she chooses count Ubul Borsay, a regular sender of huge bunches of rose. When Péter, now jealous of Borsay, learns that the count, who is in debt, is about to marry a wealthy Spanish widow, he appears, dressed up as a Spanish widow, preventing his rival from meeting Ibolya.
