Moviewatcher122's 2017 Film Diary: April (15 movies items)

"April 1-2 "It must be nice to always believe you know better, to always think you're the smartest person in the room." "No. It's awful." This was a decent film. It had a good script, some decent satire and some strong perfomances from William Hurt, Albert Brooks and Holly Hunter. Wasn't anything exceptionally good, but I did enjoy watching it and I'd probably watch it again though I wouldn't go out of my way to do so either. "

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die (1980's) (153 movies items)

" Notes: Back in 80's, William Hurt was a really hot actor, starring every year in the movies with the highest profile and this movie was definitely one of those. Apparently, Holly Hunter replaced Debra Winger at the last moment and got this part which pretty much launched her career. Basically, this tale is pretty much a rather straighforward love triangle and the whole thing therefore does sometimes sound like a soap opera but it does take place in a fascinating environment, in a network news "

" Director: James L. Brooks Starring: William Hurt, Albert Brooks, Holly Hunter, Robert Prosky, Lois Chiles, Joan Cusack, Peter Hackes, Christian Clemenson, Jack Nicholson, Leo Burmester, Marita Geraghty, Glen Roven, Marc Shaiman and John Cusack A highly strung television news producer finds herself strangely attracted to a vapid anchorman even through she loathes everything he personifies. To make matters worse, her best friend, a talented but not particularly telegenic news reporter, is secre"

" Director: James L. Brooks Starring: William Hurt, Albert Brooks, Holly Hunter, Robert Prosky, Lois Chiles, Joan Cusack, Peter Hackes, Christian Clemenson, Jack Nicholson, Leo Burmester, Marita Geraghty, Glen Roven, Marc Shaiman and John Cusack Satirical comedy about three ambitious newscasters: Tom Grunick, a rising anchorman, has plenty of on-camera savvy, personality and good looks but little in the way of brains. He may be dumb as a doornail but Tom's got the star presence his network need"
