The Wave review

Posted : 7 years, 9 months ago on 24 July 2016 01:52

I just recently saw the trailer for this. I have to admit I have a guilty pleasure for disaster flicks. This one though looks absolutely incredible and gut-wrenching. I tend to find foreign films grasp horror/thrills so much better than the US a lot of the time. Anyways I was looking around on Netflix and as soon as I spotted it I was excited. I really hope this is as great as it looks. I actually have seen the two leads in another film which is cool. Roar Uthaug wrote the first two Cold Prey (Fritt Vilt) films as well as directed the first one. I feel confident that I will like this based on his skills so far. This family is really adorable. I really hope they will all be okay by the end. I'm not ready even though I know it's going to happen. So uh what about his kids? Well this situation kind of reminds me of Jaws. Well that explains that. That was Cold Prey! Now it's about to hit the fan! Nobody believes it at first of course. Wait I'm already halfway through? This is so engaging I didn't even realize nothing had happened for half the movie. Holy crap! The tension is driving me insane! I don't know why, but when that woman decided to help I started tearing up. I mean it shows the bits of humanity that are still good out there. I just wish all of mankind could be like that. Oh lord! This movie is wheels off. I like how we see the before, during, and after of the whole thing. No, no don't do this to me! I kind of wish they didn't cop out there! Some nice facts there at the end. What's really interesting is that this is based on a place where this could really happen. One thing is that it does remind me of The Impossible and San Andrea. It's so much better than the latter though. I really enjoyed the way they told this story. Sure it isn't a very original idea. It's presented very well though. I thought the characters were great and the acting was amazing. It's really well done. They even tried to get this into the Academy Awards. I can see why. I definitely recommend checking this one out.
