Forgettable and not particularly that entertaining

Posted : 1 year, 10 months ago on 4 June 2022 04:41

I don't think this is the worst animated movie I have ever seen, Titanic:The Animated Movie, Doogal and Secret of NIMH 2 are worse I feel, but Barnyard in my opinion isn't particularly that good. It does have a decent vocal cast; Kevin James, Courtney Cox, Danny Glover, Sam Elliot and Rob Paulsen do a good job but deserve better than their material lets them onto. And I did like the saying "A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others".

However, there were many things I did not like. The animation is not that great I feel, there is the occasional nice colourful background, but the character movements are cheap, forced and blocky. At best the music is forgettable, the story is unoriginal and uninspired, the dialogue is simplistic and often lowbrow, the gags are crude and totally not smart(well there was the occasional laugh but that isn't enough, but they went well overboard with the udders) and the characters(with the exception of Ben and Dag the Coyote) are obnoxious and unlikeable, with no really unique personalities. Overall, a big disappointment, could have been much better. 3/10 Bethany Cox

Udder rubbish!

'Barnyard' is just udder rubbish in every way!

Animation: UGH! Otis acts like a human (he's a cow) but he has udders! Udders? On male cows?! WHAT?????

Voice acting: OUCH!

I just act crazy whenever I hear these obnoxious animals singing and dancing and that midget farmer looks like Mr Potato Head, ridiculous jokes, awful animation, horrible voice acting, most of the credit goes to Steve Oedekerk

An average movie

Posted : 11 years, 9 months ago on 25 July 2012 09:29

Like any other parent, I have been guilty of showing my kids some pretty awfull stuff. I mean, you get to the local Blockbuster (we don't have Blockbusters in the Netherlands but you get what I mean...) and you notice that you have already watched all the good familly features with your children and what remains is ... the rest. Of course, since my step-son has watched the TV-show, he thought it was pretty cool to see a full length version but I was not really enthousiast (understatment of the year...). Indeed, I thought it would be really bad. I mean, the main character is supposed to be a guy but yet he has udders... Why on Earth?!? So, you have female cows and male cows but why not making the male cows just look like bulls?!? I know, kids don't care about such details but I found it really stupid and frankly a little bit disturbing. Furthermore, the animation was pretty ugly if you compare it to anything made by Pixar or Dreamworks. And still, it was not a really bad flick. I mean, it was pretty average but not completely terrible amd there were here and there a few funny things. Still, there are way better familly features to show to your kids and this one is definitely not really worth a look.

I don't know what's worse:

- the fact that the director PURPOSEFULLY made all the MALE cows have udders, thinking it was funny

- when the male cows walk around, it looks like they have some sort of mutated penises (or is it penii?)

- when the male cows 'get off' on attaching their udders to the milking machines

or

THE BLOODY FACT THAT THIS IS MARKETTED AS A KIDS MOVIE

have they no goddamn shame?
