An average movie

Posted : 11 years, 10 months ago on 23 July 2012 01:25

It is a rather obscure flick (only 2 ratings here in Listal) but since it was starring both Catherine Deneuve and William Hurt, I thought I should give it a try anyway. Honestly, the story was nothing really amazing but Catherine Deneuve was so charismatic (I mean, can you believe she was 60 years old back then?!?), she was just spellbinding to watch. I also have a weak spot for William Hurt and, together, they had some great chemistry. Unfortunately, even though the characters were interesting, I didn't care much about the plot though. By the way, this movie was directed by Tonie Marshall who had some success before with 'Vรฉnus beautรฉ (institut)', you might not have heard of it before but it was quite popular in France and featured the breakthrough performance of someone called Audrey Tautou. Anyway, coming back to our main feature, it was something rather typical in French romantic movies : the characters were usually interesting, complicated, conflicted, they talked all the time but the plot is usually not really important. To conclude, it was not a masterpiece whatsoever but it was still a decent romantic feature and it is worth a look, especially if you are interested in French movies.
