“This movie didn't make much waves when it was released since I have always had a weak spot for Tom Tykwer's work, I was still eager to check it out. Futhermore, after 'Cloud Atlas', Tykwer was working again with Tom Hanks and I thought it was pretty neat to Hanks involving in some smaller project like this one for once. Well, eventually, to be honest, it wasn't really good, I'm afraid. Basically, the whole set-up was about an American businessman pretty much wasting his time (and ours) in Saudi Arabia looking for the King himself so he can do his sales pitch and, even though it was supposed to be really funny, I guess, it wasn't really interesting or entertaining after all. "This film had no cohesion, slid around from storyline to storyline and couldn't decide on an identity. It was a mess really and the jerkiness of the scene transitions made it hard to settle in to really care about what was going on. Its too bad really, Tom Hanks sells it like always but his character is given nothing for the audience to invest in. "
“The movie budget is 30 MILLION DOLLARS but they can't get a REAL arab stylist!!!? the cloths are ridiculous! and the arabic dialogue may sound okay in the ear of non-arabs but it's not. Arabic accents tend to have a distinctive differences in both phoneme and vocabulary.
Beside... "Zahra" couldn't pronounce the letter [ح] correctly. which is the hallmark of arabian speaker.” read more
