Chrono Cross - PlayStation
The soundtrack is so beautiful that when I worked at a game store as a lad, more than one person told me that the main reason that they were buying it was for the in-game music. I'd have to agree; it's quite nice.

Rule of Rose - PlayStation 2
I absolutely love this soundtrack. The music helps add to the mood in game, and it's just plain nice to listen to even by itself.
ape's rating:

Mega Man 2 - Famicom and NES
Many folks consider it the best game in the franchise...Many folks consider it to have the best soundtrack in the franchise, as well. And I agree, while just about any Mega Man game has a good soundtrack, there's just something about 2's that makes it seem a tad above the rest.
ape's rating:

Skies of Arcadia - Sega Dreamcast
I've heard some people say that this game has an average soundtrack. I'm not one of those people. When I was making screenshots for this game last year, whenever I saw a screenshot, the music for that particular area would play in my head. Music usually doesn't stick with me that well, but when it's as nice as the melodies found here, I'm kinda glad when it does.
ape's rating:

ActRaiser - Super famicom and SNES
ActRaiser's soundtrack pushed the SNES's sound capabilities to its limit...And the end result was one of the best soundtracks of the 16-bit era.
ape's rating:

Katamari Damacy - PlayStation 2
It doesn't matter if it's games, music, movies, etc...If it's weird, I'll probably love it. Maybe that's why I adore Katamari Damacy's soundtrack as much as I do.
ape's rating:

F-Zero - Super famicom and SNES
Maybe it's because I have fond memories playing this as a young lad, but I've always been a big fan of the F-Zero soundtrack. I remember tapping my fingers to the beat of the tunes as I played, and whenever I play the game again, I'm sure history will repeat itself.
ape's rating:

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - PlayStation
Wonderful soundtrack for a wonderful game. Most of the music fit the level it was made for, but some of 'em had that finger-tapping quality that I mentioned above.
ape's rating:

Heavy Rain - PlayStation 3
Very nice, dramatic, instrumental soundtrack. As general rule, I tend to like music without lyrics over music with lyrics...So hearing an orchestra for the entire game didn't just help set the mood for the game's story, it helped make me really enjoy the soundtrack coming out of my television's speakers.
ape's rating:

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 - PlayStation
It might be the first game that made me whistle (sort of) to a soundtrack. I recently played the game for the first time since its initial release and instantly remembered how every song went and found myself whistling along once again.
ape's rating:

Suikoden III - PlayStation 2
Nothing really special for me to say here...I just like the music. Possibly for nostalgic reasons, but I enjoy it all the same.
ape's rating:

Final Fantasy VIII - PlayStation
I sort of think that this may be the best soundtrack in the Final Fantasy franchise. I like the soundtracks to most games in the series, but there's just a certain charm to the music found in this game that make me lean towards saying its the best. I kind of think that the soundtrack is like the game itself; it doesn't get enough credit from the average gamer.
ape's rating:

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - PlayStation 2
Like I said in the description, I'm not a big music guy...But for some reason, Vice City's all-80's soundtrack is one that I enjoy a lot. Then again, I also enjoy a lot of the DJ banter and commercials that play between songs. It all adds up to a nicely packaged soundtrack.
ape's rating:

Daytona USA - Sega Saturn
Really only added for one song...Not even sure of the song's title (I think it's 'Sky High'), but it always makes me smile.
"I wanna flahhhh-ah-ahhhhhh skahhhhhhhhh hahhhhhhhhhh!"
"I wanna flahhhh-ah-ahhhhhh skahhhhhhhhh hahhhhhhhhhh!"
ape's rating:

Super Metroid - Super famicom and SNES
Again, it might be due to nostalgia reasons. I can't really pinpoint an exact reason why I like the music here, but I do.
ape's rating:

Chulip - PlayStation 2
Every song on this is bizarre, so I love it. My particular favorite song in the game is the one that plays in the bath house. Genius.
ape's rating:

Little Nemo: The Dream Master - Famicom and NES
Probably nostalgia again...But then again, Capcom generally put out wonderful soundtracks for their 8-bit games, so that could be it, too.
ape's rating:

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers - Super famicom and SNES
The Street Fighter II games were fun, and the nifty soundtrack always added another element to that fun. Super Street Fighter II had four more stages to go along with the four new fighters, which meant four more nifty level themes to listen to.
ape's rating:

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King... - PlayStation 2
It's just beautiful, wonderfully performed music. The audio playing always fits what's going on in screen...It's a perfect fit to the game. This one is a rare game that had me whistling some songs and tapping my fingers to others. Needless to say, I probably look like a goof when I'm playing it.
ape's rating:

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker - Sega Genesis and Mega Drive
I honestly do not like Michael Jackson's music...But for some reason, when his songs are produced in 16-bits, I can't help but enjoy them. I'm sure his crotch-grabbing shrieks prior to each level, which never fail to make me chuckle, probably also have a part in me liking the soundtrack as much as I do.

I've never been a big music person. I rarely listen to music of any kind outside of when I'm driving...And even then, it's not that often. Yet, there are games that leave me humming, whistling, or tapping my fingers on the controller in rhythm to the soundtrack. Kind of weird, eh?
Anyway, these are games that I enjoy the music to. They're not really in any order. I don't feel like I know enough about music to rank them in any sort of order. So, yup. I like these soundtracks.
