2015 has been an emotional year, we were more swayed with emotions than entertainment, storytelling, and film-making techniques. It could be the fact that we sat through an entire "Furious 7" movie, only to end up crying like hell in the last few mins; or the importance of five basic emotions in all our lives and how they make us or break us in "Inside Out"; or the emotional trauma that Matt Damon goes through in "The Martian", (Or the fact that Matt Damon has to be rescued again for the umpteenth time); or the joy of seeing a new episode of "Star Wars" and the death of an all time favourite character; I could go on about most of the films on the list, but you get the point.
This year also sees three films from India (out of the six on the list), S. S. Rajamouli's "Baahubali: The Beginning", Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani", and Shankar's "I", three films by three great directors who have changed Indian Cinema in many ways, ways from which we can never go back to, leading to what we can expect to be a new golden age in Indian Cinema.
With films and the industry being redefined in the year, and looking forwards to 2016 where we will be spoilt with several (Hopefully) great films, we would like to present our fourth annual "NerdyGeek's 27 Best Films of 2015". (We are waaaay-past the "Point Of No Return" with our silly tradition).
The films have been selected from Bollywood (Hindi), Hollywood (USA), Hollywood North (Canada), Kollywood (Tamil), Mollywood (Malayalam), Sandalwood (Kannada), Tollywood (Telugu), and UK Film.
