Sleepwalk with Me (2013)
I always enjoyed Mike Birbiglia. This movie showed a very personal side to him. It is a sweet movie that endears you to him. Ira Glass produces this film and you can feel him throughout this film.

Robot & Frank (2012)
What a fantastic film. The acting was superb and the story was sweet and endearing. Everyone should see this movie, and I'm not just saying that because a friend wrote it.

Total Recall (2012)
I liked a lot of the tech in this movie. The film was gritty and pretty fun, though it falls short of the original.
OtaQueen's rating:
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Great film though it dragged a bit and was pretty depressing at points. Saw the "big twist" coming a mile away. I love the dark and gritty Batman storylines and this movie delivered.
OtaQueen's rating:
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
This movie was alright. I was not really looking forward to it. I felt (and I still do) that it was too soon for a reboot of this franchise.
The movie is better than I thought it would be. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have a real chemistry. I was never bored during the Peter Parker scenes. They were engaging. However I found the Spider-man scenes so boring. The Lizard was poorly handled as well.
Also and this just may be the herpetology fan in me, but come on, lizards running around the city? Tropical lizards (pretty sure I saw a fire skink and a blue lizard running around the sewers) to boot?

Safety Not Guaranteed (2012)
Such a good film. The trailer piqued my interest but it really doesn't show just how good this film is. Not the easiest movie to find but worth the search.
OtaQueen's rating:
I really enjoyed this movie (and not just for the fact that very good looking men were taking their clothes off). The story was interesting and dynamic, the writing was funny, and the acting was great (well except for the lead girl). Channing Tatum is really coming into his own as an actor now.
OtaQueen's rating:
Brave (2012)
This movie reminded me more of a Disney movie than a Pixar movie. It was a beautiful movie that reminded me of the Disney movies I love like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid. Beautiful film, simply gorgeous.
OtaQueen's rating:
Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Pretty disappointing. I loved the look of some of the effects and Charlize Theron seemed to be having a blast chewing the scenery like she hadn't eaten in months, but the rest of the film was meh. Too long, the story was uninteresting, and the characters were way too one dimensional.
OtaQueen's rating:
The Avengers (2012)
After seeing this movie 5 times, it still takes my breath away.
The 6 year old comic book fangirl that still resides inside me, who never thought a movie like this would be made, cheers every time I see this movie.
The dialogue is wonderful, the acting is great, and the action is awe inspiring. Joss really captured the teams dynamic including all the infighting and respect they have for each other.
Mark Ruffalo steals the show. His Hulk is the best rendition of Hulk ever.
With news of a Guardians of the Galaxy movie and perhaps Death in the next Avengers movie (plus that cellist comment that makes me jump up and down at the thought of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver) this comic fangirl has a lot to look forward to.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2012)
Food porn at its very best. Great story and wonderfully shot.
OtaQueen's rating:
I had forgotten how good this movie was. It was great seeing it on the big screen.
OtaQueen's rating:
Prometheus (2012)
Didn't live up to my expectations (I did have extremely high expectations), but a good film.
OtaQueen's rating:
Men in Black 3 (2012)
Never saw the 2nd one but I do remember thinking the first one was funny. I enjoyed this film though it wasn't great. A fun watch though.
OtaQueen's rating:
I love, love, love Joss Whedon. This was an amazing movie. The writing was wonderful and the action was fun. It really turned the whole traditional horror movie on its head.
OtaQueen's rating:
American Reunion (2012)
This movie made me feel old. Granted I graduated a few years after the American pie gang, but every throwback they showed in this movie reminded me of junior high school. A funny trip down memory lane.
OtaQueen's rating:
The Hunger Games (2012)
Not as good as the book, but still a very well done movie. I can't wait for Catching Fire.
OtaQueen's rating:
Casa de mi Padre (2012)
Hilarious. Had a lot of the tropes you find in telenovelas and old gaucho movies.
OtaQueen's rating:
21 Jump Street (2012)
Nothing like the show but I still loved it. I was shocked by how much i enjoyed this movie.
OtaQueen's rating:
Pure silliness. I liked it more than I thought I would though it doesn't compare with the other comic book movies that have been coming out as of late.
OtaQueen's rating:
Chronicle (2012)
I hate found footage movies. Blair WItch, fine I get it. After that though, I found the concept unneeded and nausea inducing. However this film was incredible. The characters are so interesting and the story while a bit cliched, sticks with you.
OtaQueen's rating:
Will I ever see Daniel Radcliffe and not think Harry Potter? I hope so. This movie was better than I expected. It's a very British horror movie. I like the suspenseful movies more than torture porn like the Saw movies.
OtaQueen's rating:
These are all the movies I have seen in the theater this year. It will be updated as I see more movies.
