Hey Arnold! The Movie (2002)
Age: 4
I have the vaguest memory of this movie but I do remember seeing it. I remember it probably only because from the commercials. I thought I was going to be live-action (based on some weird ads that had the characters in weird live-action) and was upset when it wasn't. Now, I realize how stupid the movie would have been if the movie had been live-action.

X2: X-Men United (2003)
Age: 5
I have even less memory about seeing this film. However, I do significantly remember seeing a scene with Pyro and Iceman in it. I also remember leaving the movie early due to crying and wasn't able to see the full thing.

As a child, there were two superheroes I really loved: Batman and Spider-Man. So, I was definitely glad I was able to see a Spider-Man film in theaters during my lifetime. It was a very awesome experience watching this film in a theater. I admit that this film has flaws and could've been a better movie. But still love Spider-Man 3 and nothing will change the way I adored this movie the first time I watched it.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Age: 14
2012 was a big year for movies and I knew I had to watch at least one movie in a theater this year. Luckily, during a birthday dinner at Applebee's, we were able to get special tickets that were basically special discounts for any movie we wanted to see in theaters. "The Avengers" are finished its' theater run, so I considered using those passes for "Brave" or "The Amazing Spider-Man". However, I knew that I had to take this opportunity and use them to check out the highly-hyped "The Dark Knight Rises". So basically, I was able to watch the most anticipated film of the year in theaters for a lowered theater price. I was a bit cautious about seeing this film because I believed the most massive hype for this film would lead to a major disappointment. But I decided to take that risk and it lead to an amazing cinematic experience. I admit, in retrospect, the film has its flaws. However, the pros that this movie accomplishes definitely outweigh the cons. Because this film was able to do what few third trilogy films are able to get right by making a great movie that is able to magnificent sendoff to the classic film trilogy.

I am given the opportunity to join a movie club where once a month they check the latest hit coming to theaters. In preparation for watching this film, I finally decided to read the original book. I had previously read the last book in middle school but lost understand in continuing the story until now. Turns out the sequel had a great story and got adapted into a great movie, I believe they managed to improve the strengths and remove the weakness of the first film (mainly the shaking cam). It could have potentially been just a rehash of the first film but this film put more focus on the cruel Capitol instead of the games. As to expect there were certain details that didn't make it to the screen that were in the novel, most of them I could understand not including but others I felt would've made the story more interesting. So it isn't superior to the novel, it is still a very great adaptation. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my Friday afternoon.

Divergent (2014)
Age: 16
This film certainly surprised me. I was expecting this to be a disappointing Young Adult novel adaptation along the lines of The Mortal Instruments, The Host, etc. Just another project meant to capture some of that Hunger Games hype and there are certainly some similarities between the two franchises. However, I found this to be a fun blockbuster. The world-building is interesting. The plot is nothing special but still provides enough action and emotion to make it work better than most YA releases do.

Deadpool (2016)
Age: 18
Deadpool is my third favorite superhero character, right behind Batman and Spider-Man. So I was eagerly anticipating the idea of a Deadpool movie but I also had my doubts that it would get made. Especially after X-Men Origins: Wolverine severely screwed up the character, which is a shame cause I liked the idea of Ryan Reynolds returning to a more accurate representation of the character. But sometimes, dreams do come true because this Deadpool movie is everything I wanted to see in a Deadpool movie. Vulgar, bloody, hilarious, meta, and elements pulled straight from Deadpool's comic history. Ryan Reynolds kills it as Deadpool and really gave it his all into getting this movie made. I have to applaud him for his determination. So happy that this movie got made and with its' immense success I hope movie studios realize that good things happen when you give characters like this the treatment they deserve without the excessive meddling or mass-appeasing measures. I'm glad this was R-rated because the character needed to be in an R-rated world, PG-13 would have neutered the character of its' appeal. So yeah, good job, Fox, you truly redeemed yourselves for X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Now, I am a huge filmbuff. I love watching movies in any way I can through DVDs, streaming online, and other watching methods. However, I don't watch movies in theaters as much as other people do. Mainly, my family doesn't have the time or money to watch recent movies constantly in theaters. Besides, you can wait three months and you'll eventually get to watch the movie cheaper on DVD. So, when I do get to watch a movie in theater is a much more of a special occasion. So, here is my rather short but special list of the movies I've managed to see in theaters throughout my life.
