My dad had the LP and this and my Brother's Grimm Fairytales record were essential listening in my house when I was 3 years old.

Classic Songs: the Best of James Taylor - James Taylor
The guy I had a crush on was playing this album in his car the day we went on a road trip.

Not so good movie but the soundtrack will have a special place in my heart because it introduced me to Nina Simone.
The five songs of hers that are on this soundtrack are just mind blowing. Listening to Feeling Good sends shivers up my spine, it's that good.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill - Lauryn Hill
I bought the cassette 10 years ago and wore it out playing it so often. Introspective and honest, Lauryn Hill is a fearless songwriter.
It's so hard to choose a favorite song from this album because I love them all but if you listen to nothing else, then you must hear I Used To Love Him

Something to Write Home About - The Get Up Kids
Even if much of today's emo is a joke, the late 90s and early 2000s were gold for emo and The Get Up Kids captured the spirit of the times with Something to Write Home About.
Catchy guitar hooks, good melodies and lyrics that are straight forward but at times a play on words.
I especially love My Apology, I'm A Loner Dottie, A Rebel and Out of Reach.
