Macross 7 (1994)
Macross 7 is wacky in a brilliant way it is a fun ride where singing can do anything. Need to raise an island? Sing, need to save people from space vampire elves? Sing. I love this show and Basara, my personal favorite character from the franchise. Basara is the kind of guy who only wants to perform and does not care what he has to do to make people listen to his song!

The original that started the franchise. This has the best plot of the franchise, that being focused on the Macross trying to go home when they warp to Pluto. Captain Global begins his quest back home where he and the rest of the crew must fight against the Zentradi, an alien race who are vastly superior to our heroes in every way. This show is serious while feeling light-hearted I love it!

Macross Frontier feels like a love letter to the franchise, Ozma is a big fan of Firebomber, there are some shots that in Frontier that are directly referring to SDF Macross. Frontier is a great journey back to serious town that 7 abandoned. Macross F is a strong entry into the series

Macross Frontier the show is good, it just slows down at the end until the fantastic climax. I am not here for the serious mecha elements of Frontier, I would be watching Gundam for that, I come for the beautiful music and the more light-hearted side of mecha. Which is why the last few episodes I am not a fan of; except for the climax which is incredible!

Macross is a mecha anime that started back in the 80's and has slowly evolved into a large franchise over the years. The franchise is known for its fantastic music and it's love triangles.
