7th September 1958 - The ideal woman 1958: 22-year old Laura Lardori wins the 7th Contest for the ideal woman, regarding different features than beauty. The winner is a teacher and a good cook, has a good culture and plays some sports. She was also a competitor in the successful TV show Il Musichiere.

15th December 1901 - Insanity tragedy on Lago Maggiore, near Locarno (Canton of Ticino, Swiss).

18th June 1933 - In the Biellese country (Piedmont, Northern Italy) a woman and her son are trailed by a cow. A farmer stopped the cow and saved them.

28th October 1945 - In London, about 2.000 British women, married to U.S. soldiers, burst into the chief of U.S. Army and demand to go to the U.S.A..
From May 1945 to March 1946, La Domenica del Corriere was given the name La Domenica degli Italiani (The Sunday of Italians).

25th November 1945 - Near Venice, eleven refugees of the same family are surprised by a fire in the barn, where they sheltered. In the fire, a little boy died.

9th December 1945 - Cover about Genny Bibolotti Marsili, one of the victims of the massacre of Sant'Anna di Stazzema (Tuscany, Central Italy), on 12th August 1944. Before of being killed, she hid her 6-year old son Mario and threw one of her clog against a German soldier to prevent that he found her son.

6th April 1947 - After a 20-year amnesia, a shop keeper from Genoa finds his wife, as a Catholic nun, in Rome.

17th August 1947 - In Alto Adige (Norther Italy), a young countrywoman and her little brother fall in a ravine but the woman hangs to a tree. They were helped by people beckoned by the shouts of the girl.

18th July 1948 - In Bruges (Belgium), the roof of a house falls down: a woman supports a heavy beam to save her little boy. The woman survived.

3rd July 1955 - In Barcellona, near Messina (Sicily, Southern Italy), a mother tries to prevent the kidnapping of her daughter by closing her in a room. The girl was kidnapped, altough she jumped to the balcony of the nearby house.

19th August 1956 - In Alberobello (Puglia, Southern Italy), a bandit burst into a house and shoots to the 80-year old lady who lives in: her daughter shields and dies.

8th December 1957 - On the shore of the lake of Lavarone (Trentino-Alto Adige, Northern Italy), a little girl runs away from her mother and falls in the water. The young lady tries to save her but the other daughter, that she was holding in her arms, slips away. Mother and daughters were saved by people who were around there.

29th March 1959 - In Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige, Northern Italy), a woman suffering from depression tries to commit suicide by throwing herself and falls onto her husband. They were both hospitalized.

3rd November 1958 - A woman from Liguria (Northern Italy) is chosen as first wife of Italy: in the war-time she brought her husband back home from Yugoslavia, although he had his legs frozen. In 1957, her husband had his legs amputated and she constantly takes care of him.

9th November 1958 - In San Giovanni a Teduccio, near Naples, a 9-year old girl saves her three little sisters from a fire in the bedroom of their house.

21st December 1958 - A 10-year old girl and her little brothers walk through a storm in their way from Gioiosa Marea to Patti, near Messina (Sicily, Southern Italy), to see their mother in hospital.

11th February 1962 - An award to Lady Lees for her goodness: she came to Italy to meet the former Italian soldier who took part in the military action (in World War II) in which her son Captain James Lees died.

La Domenica del Corriere (The Sunday of Corriere) was a weekly newsmagazine whose first issue was published on 8th January 1899. Its name was after the eminent Milan newspaper Corriere della Sera (The courier of the evening). La Domenica del Corriere was the most popular Italian newsmagazine from its beginning to the 1960s.
