"La Domenica del Corriere"_14

25th January 1959 - In a pullman headed for Magherno, near Pavia (Lombardy, Northern Italy), 23-year old Carabiniere Vito Taddeo recognizes a criminal among passengers and tries to arrest him, but he is shot to death. The criminal was arrested three days later.

19th August 1945 - Unknown people throw bombs in elegant meeting places in Acqui Terme, near Alessandria (Piedmont, Northern Italy).
From May 1945 to March 1946, La Domenica del Corriere was given the name La Domenica degli Italiani (The Sunday of Italians).

2nd June 1957 - On 9th April 1953, 21-year old Roman girl Wilma Montesi is found dead on Torvajanica beach, on the Rome's littoral. A Wilma Montesi's friend, Anna Maria Moneta Caglio, made alleged revelations about Roman high society. The case remained unsolved.

2nd March 1958 - Carabinieri arrest a bandit after a firefight in San Pietro di Cavarzere, near Venice. The man was the boss of a band that carried out many robberies.

13th April 1958 - In Milan, police arrest criminals that robbed an armoured car on 27th February, with an amount of more than 100 million Italian liras.

13th July 1958 - A farmer is shot to death on his carriage headed for his mother's house in Cardillo, near Palermo (Sicily, Southern Italy). His mother found his corpse in the carriage.

5th October 1958 - In London, two man dressed up like Native American and a man dressed up like a cow-boy rob a Post Office armoured car, with an amount of 8000 British pounds.

14th December 1958 - Cover about the dramatic confrontation between Raoul Ghiani (sitting, on the left) and Giovanni Fenaroli (sitting, on the right).
On 11th September 1958, 47-year old Maria Martirano is found dead in her apartment in Rome by her housemaid. Prosecutors accused her husband Giovanni Fenaroli (a building entrepeneuer) of ordering the murder and Raoul Ghiani (an electrical worker) of committing it.
The alleged motive of the murder was the financial imbalance of Giovanni Fenaroli, who had insuranced her wife's life for 150 million Italian liras.
Both men were sentenced to life imprisonment. (See next cover).

La Domenica del Corriere (The Sunday of Corriere) was a weekly newsmagazine whose first issue was published on 8th January 1899. Its name was after the eminent Milan newspaper Corriere della Sera (The courier of the evening). La Domenica del Corriere was the most popular newsmagazine from its beginning to the 1960s.
