Big Night (1996)
Tony Shalhoub as an Italian chef, another one of his excellent performances. Perhaps the most memorable moment is when he nearly goes postal over a customer wanting both risotto and pasta.
An Indian family moves to France and opens a restaurant featuring the otherworldly magic that is Indian cuisine. They have to compete against a Michelin star restaurant. This film is an example of the greatness that can happen when cultures meet.
Oh, and there's Charlotte Le Bon. (Woo hoo!)
Today's Special (2009)
A sous-chef takes over his family's restaurant and learns to master Indian cooking from his new mentor.
Brains, balls, phallic foods - Andrew Zimmern has eaten them all!
That phallic-looking thing is a type of clam called a geoduck.
Tortilla Soup (2001)
I only vaguely remember this movie. I do remember that Elizabeth Peña's character got pretty fucking annoying.
