Games where the player being assaulted has means of breaking a combo. Not every game needs them, variety is cool, but some game having them is needed for the sake of variety. I don't agree with the idea that because a player managed to land a hit a keep a combo, that he's earned to keep comboing until the other player's character is dead with no chance for recovery unless the comboing player errs. His position shouldn't be guaranteed imo. Also that makes for less dynamic matches, I'm all for games subtly encouraging and sometimes forcing how players must play not only for balance but also to make matches more fun for everyone. And back-and-forth is good for thrills and adrenaline, emotion and suspense, as is an action curve that goes up and down with moments of intense combo action interspersed with footsies, so games should strive to force players to need to go into that second stage from time to time.
