The Promotional Artwork of Dragon Ball Z
This promotional artwork brings back so many childhood memories. In the early 90s, before the series made its way overseas to Western audiences, everybody in East Asia was swept up by the craze of Dragon Ball Z. Wherever you went, you could never escape from its presence. Its merchandising was milked to no end, from T-Shirts, watches, action figures and of course who could forget those prized hologram stickers? People of various backgrounds were prepared to cash in on this cash cow. It's a privilege to be able tell people that I was there when it happened. Being of another generation, I never got to experience The Beatles phenomenon, but from what I've heard, Dragon Ball Z is just as big minus the screeching fangirls. The great thing I can take away from it is how it brought about the successful cohesion of individuals from all walks of life into one space. All this coming from an extremely violent piece of media too! I'm just hoping there's enough room in my lifetime for something like this to create that positive effect on communities.
