The Javan kingfisher (Halcyon cyanoventris) is a species of bird in the subfamily Halcyoninae.

This kingfisher is endemic to the islands of Bali, Java and Indonesia. It is not found anywhere else.

Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.

A pretty small bird with a purple-blue upperparts and brownish underparts, brown head with a large red bill, size: about 22 cm.

The Javan kingfisher is classified as Least Concern. It does not qualify for a more at risk category. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.
