Life (2009)
German title: Life: Das Wunder Leben

David Attenborough's legendary BBC crew explains and shows wildlife all over planet earth in 10 episodes. The first is an overview of challenges facing life, the others are dedicated to hunting, the deep sea and various major evolutionary groups of creatures: plants, primates and other large sections of other vertebrates and invertebrates.

This series is a successor to "Planet Earth".

I own two separate Blu-ray boxes of this series (each box has 5 episodes):

Vol. 1 Vol. 2
German title: Die größten Naturereignisse

This documentary series is looking at the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on our planet. We see the impact of the melting of the arctic ice in the summer, the annual return of the salmon to spawn, where the Okavango turns many thousands of miles into a lush wetlands. We also see the impact of the migration of wildebeest on a pride of lions, the annual winter sardine run along the coast of Africa, and the great feast in the ocean when the plankton blooms.

This series is sometimes described as a successor to "Planet Earth".

my Blu-ray
German title: Expedition Erde - Die Urkräfte unseres Planeten

This is a BBC-ZDF co-produced geology series. In each episode, Thomas Reiter (UK version: Dr. Iain Stewart) explains the effects and importance of a specific force of nature, such as wind or volcanism. He also examines the various ways in which it shapes planet earth itself and influences life on it, often in conjunction with other natural forces, and sometimes with lifeforms, as in the 'apocalyptically' grave case of global warming.

Episodes: Volcano, Oceans, Atmosphere, Ice, Life (Rare Earth)

Home (2009)

With aerial footage from fifty-four countries, 'Home' is a depiction of how Earth's problems are all interlinked.

I own a special version of this documentary on Blu-ray called "Home - Story of a journey" (Home - Die Geschichte einer Reise). Only 20% of the original movie "Home" are reused here, the rest is new footage.
