Starring: James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, Michael Cera and Emma Watson.

Mini Review "It is an outrageous, high concept comedy featuring outrageous performances by the cast as themselves. Rogen and Goldberg are comedic genius as writing partners, and this film just solidifies that. Franco, Hill, Baruchel, Robinson, Rogen and McBride prove to a good comedy team to watch once the world has ended. It has some great laughs, some great "What the hell?" moments and some downright weird moments. All in all, right from the start this an raunchy and off the wall comedy and I dig that.

Starring : Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano

Mini Review: "Prisoners sets up the emotional story by creating haunting visuals that will resonate with you long after this film is over. Jackman is in top form, his emotional range the highlight of ths film. It doesn't take long from him to put on a display that is eerie and downright chilling. Gyllenhaal compliments him nicely by being the quiet detective character who as the film develops finds himself emotionally invested. Prisoners is definitely one of the better films so far in 2013."

Starring: Liam James, AnnaSophia Robb, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Toni Collete, Allison Janney, Maya Rudolph, Rob Corddry and Amanda Peet

Mini Review: Most of the themes in this film are a rehashing of the typical genre themes, but something about The Way, Way Back seemed refreshing. It started with the awkward way in which Liam James carried himself, it was complimented by Steve Carrell's incredible range and the film really took off thanks to Sam Rockwell's charismatic performance. A wonderful coming of age story that is filled with heart. Jim Rash and Nat Faxon are incredible writers and this is just another example of that."

Rush (2013)
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Bruhl and Olivia Wilde.

Mini Review: "An absolute thrill ride. Ron Howard creates a visual spectacle that surely will be Oscar bait in a few months. I see a best director, best picture and best supporting actor nomination for Daniel Bruhl coming soon. Such a heated rivalry is made even more intense by creating a tone, an atmosphere full of pressure to win. Hemsworth and Bruhl are definite treats to watch in this film, there brilliant characters allowing for higher stakes when the two of them are on the grandest stage in racing."

Kick-Ass 2 (2013)
Starring: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Clark Duke and Jim Carrey

Mini review: "Kick-Ass 2 is very much the sequel that I was hoping for. It keeps the grittiness of the first film, the gratuitous violence is also present and it even develops these characters one step further. It is stylistic once again during fight scenes, and it is super fun to watch these characters again. Kick-Ass 2 is probably the best summer movie yet this summer, and such a badass way to end the summer. Kick-Ass 3 anyone? I'd be totally down to see another.

Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Cho, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve and Zoe Saldana.

Mini Review "Benedict Cumberbatch was downright sick in this film! His ruthless, aggressive portrayal of the villain was the highlight of the film. Pine and Quinto are awesome again, and everything else becomes a beautiful display of effects and intense action. This movie was badass, J.J Abrams has done it again. This movie was off the wall and relentless. I liked every pulse pounding moment of action including the final sequence. Brilliant movie all around!"

Starring: Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Giovanni Ribisi

Mini Review:"Sean Penn steals the show amidst a sea of acting talent that includes Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Great acting, solid action set against an old school Hollywood backdrop instantly make Gangster Squad a classic mafia film."

Dead Man Down (2013)
Starring: Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace and Terrence Howard

Mini Review: "Colin Farrell has been on a hot streak as of late, choosing roles that seem tailor made for his feisty style of acting. Dead Man Down is highlighted by the element of romance in a non traditional way. With top of the line performances from Farrell, Rapace and Howard this movie was destined to be s gritty revenge flick with a very important message. "

Iron Man 3 (2013)
Starring: Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley and Rebecca Hall.

Mini Review Shane Black and Drew Pearce wrote a gutsy screenplay, full of one liners and plot facades. Most of it worked, some of it fell a bit flat and felt a bit cheesy. Couple that with another incredible performance from RDJ and this Iron Man film was entertaining. Despite the flaws, it still ranks as an enjoyable film and one of the better so far in the Marvel series.

Rating 8.5/10
