I saw the trailer and loved that and then kinda forgotted this film until I saw it on Google Play store while picking a film to watch with my brother. Loved the mood, visuals, acting & characters, practical gore effects and the soundtrack.
I think Bliss is my definitive number one of 2019 but the rest of the top 5 film are interchangeable.

Had high expectations and wasn't disappointed. Dafoe and Pattinson are both great in the film. The film looks beautiful and all the craziness was just captivating.
My favorite thing on the screening was two old ladies who came "to see nice black and white film" behind me discussing the film and not knowing anything about it just as it started. And then seeing the movie and thinking their reaction to all that was happening on screen. Just perfect.

This was my number one pick for most of the year. I just loved the film. Definitely my favorite Gaspar Noรฉ film.

I loved the recreation of 60's LA in this. That might have been my favorite thing in this movie. But then again Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio are so great together and just watching them driving around the city was so enjoyable. And then the ending provides one of my favorite Tarantino scenes ever and this earns top 5 of the year.

Dragged Across Concrete (2018)
One of the last films I saw before starting at the new job. So of course I started watching this at 2 am. It's long and slow but I just loved the film. Gibson and Vaughn are great together and the bloody brutal action scenes are just greatly done. S. Craig Zahler has earned his spot among my favorite film makers with the 3 films he has directed.

I really digged Shazam! and Avengers: Endgame, but this film can represent the comic book films overall here on the list. I think it was the best of those.

Under the Silver Lake (2018)
I wanted to see this for so long but then the studio buried it and then released it almost in secret I forgotted it. Thankfully Red Letter Media's Half in the Bag episode for it reminded me of it. And after like 5 mins I stopped the video and ordered the bluray. Then I watched it one weekend with my friend and loved it. It's a weird film as expected when even A24 can't way to market it and just hides it and then just releases it in secret. The story was great and took some interesting turns and I loved the overall weirdness of the film. And Andrew Garfield was great in the lead too.

Hagazussa (2018)
So slow and beautifully filmed atmospheric pagan film that captivated me from the start to finish.I kept wondering where the film was going and gotta say that I didn't see the ending coming at all. This is definitely not for everyone but I loved it.

Suspiria (2018)
Nothing like the og Argento film but I still enjoyed this a lot. Nice creepy mood and great performances. It felt quite long and I actually had to rewatch 25 mins in the second act as I fell asleep. But that was mostly because I had done overtime at work. I think the fact that I fell asleep in the theater in John Wick 3 and basically missed all of Halle Berry's scenes (Rewatched John Wick too on Bluray later) too says how tired I was at the time :D

It was nice to play spot the Mike Flanagan regulars while watching this. I felt like this was more drama film than pure horror but still liked it a lot.
hsallinen's rating:
Was expecting beatiful looking horror film and like a spiritual successor to og Wicker Man. And basically got that. The film dragged a bit at times so it wasn't my favorite horror film of the year but this was still good time at the theater.
hsallinen's rating:
It's another John Wick film. These are just enterntaining to watch.

Deadwood: The Movie (2019)
Nicely done ending for one of the best series ever that should've had atleast one more season to finish it 15(?) years ago. This film did pretty good job on that. It was so nice to see the actors back in their roles.
hsallinen's rating:
Well, this was a prison film with Muay Thai and great performance by Joe Cole.
hsallinen's rating:
Joker (2019)
Borrows so much from other films and doesn't do it like Tarantino does. So that dropped the rating for me some. But Joaquin Phoenix is really great in the film. Loved the Gotham City in this movie even if it's basically just 70's dirty New York.

Best TV Shows in 2019
My personal top list of movies and shows. This year this list was easier as I only managed to see about 100 films. Got a new job in the spring so those 3-5 movies per nights stopped then.
