It's a good movie overall. I expected more, but I guess my high expectations didn't have a reason to exist.

Good special effects. The story is not very engaging.

It's very noisy, full of cars and people shouting, and there's a guy playing guitar at all times for no reason at all.

Having no knowledge of the series prior to this movie, I'd say it's an interesting idea for a fantasy world, but nothing beyond that.

Index's rating:
God, that guy is creepy...

I'm fond of suspense movies and horror, so this movie fits me well. It's one of the best I've seem in a long time.

I won't rate it higher though. Maybe I've been exposed to the story somehow at some point so I knew more or less what to expect.

The idea behind it is a bit weird and when you think about it doesn't make any sense, but it's decent.

Also, Thor is in it for some reason.

It's not boring per se, but I have a sense that I didn't watch anything of significance. I guess the story is very unimpactful or at least not as impactful as I thought it would be.

Index's rating:
Awful.

It's not as bad as some other movies I watched in the past, but it's very far from average in a bad way.

The plot is weird, rushed, the main actor is not talented at all and the ending is just horrible. It makes not sense at all.

It's cringe worthy.

I was shouting at the screen the whole time pointing out the inumerous plot holes and other dumb story choices.

Boy, oh boy! Another great movie from Marvel. One of my favourites so far.

Marvel really excels at introducing new characters in a sensible and paced manner. Benedict Cumberbatch is one of my favourites actors because of Sherlock and Rachel McAdams is as pretty and talented as humanly possible.

Also, no romantic bullshit, which is always a plus. I'm looking at you, Thor...

Anyway, very enjoyable.

I love this movie! I liked everything about it: the characters, the music, the setting, the quality of the animation.

It's really a joy to watch, being so entertaining, funny and also touching. The kind of journey she goes through is very relatable.

Great. 10/10.

I finally watched this movie.

The first moments of it are very cringe worthy, but things pick up in the second act. It turned out to be an interesting movie depicting a very convoluted relationship.

It's relatable, and that's all that matters.

I'll give it a 3 out of 5 for the cringe worthy moments of the beginning of the movie, even though I know it serves the purpose of the story.

3 stars also sounds fitting.

This is a very good movie. It touches one of the things a hate the most in Brazil: how relationships between employer and housekeepers work and their pervasive unspoken rules of behavior.

At the same time, it tells a very sensible story of love of mother and daughter.

It's one of my favourite brazilian movies now.

It's alright.

I'm not very fond of those revisits to Disney classic animated movies, especially when the characters start singing in the middle of it.

Not much enjoyment to be had here.

It's my favourite Marvel movie so far.

Brave (2012)
People shit on this movie, so I decided to watch it again. I didn't even remember the story, but soon understood the reason why.

I found a movie with a very dumb and forgettable plot. It didn't make me care for the characters at all. They are all bland and underdeveloped.

And the whole premisse is a bit distorted. I mean, she's supposed to be brave, but there's not much of bravery on her part on the whole movie besides the archery bit. She buys a cake to turn her mother into a bear and try to fix it by mending a tapestry in her castle. Where's the challenge?

She could go somewhere, fight someone, save her family and people, something that actually needed bravery. But no, the second act is about her trying to fix the mess she made, not even in an interesting way. The whole thing is silly.

If you're going to call a movie Brave, please put bravery into it somehow, otherwise, call it Tapestry. And that's the problem with this movie, it doesn't deliver on it's own promisse.

The setting is interesting, the visuals are great and the voice acting is adorable, but it might be my least favourite animation movies because of the aforementioned problems.

Not very entertaining.

Index's rating:
This superhero movie feels a lot like a black ops one. I even checked out the director for it.

It's good, it's well made, but doesn't feel like a superhero movie, as I said. It's not boring, but not very entertaining, or at least not as entertaining as I'd hope.

It's only my second time watching, partially because I didn't like it so much beyond the scene on the boat. Maybe it's the serious tone, maybe the dark visuals, but it certainly feels different from, say, Guardians of the Galaxy or Avengers.

Not a bad movie, but not as fun.

Spider-Man (2002)
I didn't remember how cartoony this movie is. It reminds me a lot of the 89's Batman, because of the music, yes, but also because of the style.

Tobey Maguire acting skills are very low... It's the first time I'm watching it in english and it shows. I'll watch the second one to see if he improves, but in this first film is really bad.

The CGI didn't age so well. You can clearly see the transition from real to computer generated character. Another this that bothers me is the time it takes to get to the action. The first time Spidey apears is around 54 minutes in. That's a lot. Even the intro music is long. It's great, but it's goddamn long.

But despite its flaws, it has a lot of memorable moments, like the spider-sense slow-mo, the upside down kiss and the brigde scene. Some actors are also great, like J. J. Jameson. I think you cannot be more spot on on that character than that.

That's it. A bit entertaining. I got bored halfway through but manage to go back to it and finish in the same day.

It's surprisingly violent, but it may be the best X-Men movie in my opinion. It's just interesting to see Wolverine relationships with other people and the world in this action-packed journey.

Also, the CG claws are alright this time.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)
This is regarded as the best Spider-Man movie to date and I agree, mainly because it is superior to the first one and because the other ones pretty much sucked.

The CG shows its age, but it's not so bad. The acting is hugely improved from the first one. I can't believe it's already a thirteen years old movie. I still remember being excited watching the teaser and the trailer.

Time sure flies.

Ending Sam Raimi's trilogy, Spider-Man 3. A lot of people hate this movie, but I liked quite a bit. I don't think it's as convoluted as some people say. The story is well told and the characters are well introduced.

It's above all a light hearted movie and that I can appreciate.

I don't remember being so satisfyied with a Star Wars movie. Maybe it has to do with the inclusion of the IP Man in it. Maybe it was Felicity Jones' charm. No matter what it was, it had me hooked.

The story is good and the CGI is great. It's good to know how they got the bloody map.

Talking about "bloody", what's up with all the british english speakers? I have obviously nothing against it, but it was a surprise even to me.

Great over all. Better than Episode VII.

Planes (2013)
I like this better than Cars. It feels a bit samey, with the older grumpy relunctant teacher and the love interest that takes the protagonist for a ride, but it's alright.

Cars was never a movie I liked very much so it's not hard to top it up, but this movie had enough to keep me entertained on it's own merits.

I'll give it a 4 out of 5 for the amount of entertainment it gave me. I like movies about people who follow their dreams even against the odds. It's always inspiring.

I like the animation style of this movie, but it doesn't deliver the message it proposes. If you think a bit you'll see the there was no way around it, so it was weird to see that they chose this set up.

But it was entertaining. Not as much as the first one but still.

This is one of the movies of my childhood, one of the ones I had in a VHS tape and watched over and over again. But it was in brazilian portuguese. This is the first time I'm watching it in english, as part of a plan to watch again all Disney movies in english.

It obviously doesn't strike the same nostalgic chord as in portuguese. While watching it I was always anticipating the lines I know by heart by now and never got it.

But in any case, is one of my favourite childhood movies and it'll always be like that.

I didn't like it.

I mean, Kong walks as a normal-ass person? It's very weird. And the pacing of the movie feels wrong. It gets dull halfway through.

The soundtrack in the begining is great, but there's no good action scenes. And the final battle is boring, predictable and feels like a rehash of the 2005 King Kong movie.

Discount badass jungle Loki, and the whole talking without talking tribe bullshit, and the fact the Kong cares enough about a random girl to save her, and the fact that she sinks like a stone to begin with, and the fact that she's not dead when grabbed by a giant fighting monkey hand that gets SWALLOWED... I mean, come on...

This is a step back from the previous King Kong movie without a doubt which at least had some great actions scenes, a plot that made sense and a monkey that behaved like a monkey.

Another one of those childhood Disney movies. This one I had on VHS too.

I like the songs (in Portuguese) and the message of love between mother and son. Most characters sound the same in English, except Jane for some reason. I like her Portuguese voice better. Next, I'll try Italian.

It's not one of my favourites Disney movies, but it's great nonetheless.

I don't why it took me so long to watch this movie and this is the second time already that I watch it, but it's one of my favourite Jim Carrey movies.

It's a weird concept and the people involved in it are very creepy, especially his wife, but it's very touching when he finally frees himself.

The Babadook (2014)
The first time I watched this movie it was a terrifying experience, and I really liked this one because of that. But in this second run it was not nearly as frightening.

Instead I tried to make sense of it all and discovered the hidden meaning of it, of how the monster is in reality her pain in losing her husband. Because of that this movie now has a whole new spin to me.

Aladdin (1992)
This movie didn't feel weird to me in English because I didn't watch it enough when I was a kid, I didn't grow accustomed to the Portuguese version.

I had a cassette tape and a book of Aladdin, but never had the VHS tape. I also played the SNES game of the same name, but it wasn't in Portuguese.

Beyond the language part, the movie itself is good. It's not one of my favourites maybe because of the characters. I don't really like Jasmin, to me just an self entitled and self absorved princess with no redeeming qualities. Aladdin is brave and smart, but not one of my favourites characters either.

Abu is annoying, Raja is boring, Iago is awful. Jafar is a bit terrifying but very shallow. Genie is great and funny and the Sultan is adorable, but that's about it.

The story itself is good, but not great. The barriers Aladdin has to overcome are poorly constructed. I guess that's the problem with having a Genie in it: there are so many better wishes he could have made. But I guess it plays nicely in showing how clueless he is about everything.

It doesn't deserve a five and barely gets a four, so I'll give it a three. I think is fitting.

I say this is a inferior movie to the first one, but not by far. It's much more of a emotional journey, with a lot of of slow-motion scenes.

The songs continue great (The Chain is really good), and the visuals are stunning (I guess they're using the new camera), but the plot has some flaws, and the biggest one to me is Gamora flip-flopping on the whole thing. I guess the impact of it is a bit soften too because they don't have to overcome a comparable threat to the first one: trying to unit and become the Guardians. They grow much more on a personal level in the first one.

And that's why I think the movie tries way too hard and falls a bit short: it keeps trying to make great moments without a central conflict and need for growth as strong as the first.

When it comes to Bluray I'll watch it again, but for now I think it's a 9, while the first one was an 10, but I'll give it an 8 to diferentiate.

4/5.
Index's rating:
This movie has a lot of convenient plot point happening and it starts a bit slow, as you don't really know what's going on or what one thing have to do with the other until much later in the movie, but it's alright I guess. Also, the 1920s' America setting is always interesting.

I've see worse movies this year.

I had this movie on VHS tape when I was a kid and knew almost every line by heart and I still remembered a bit chunk of it.

What I didn't remembered was how boring it is. I don't know if that's because I already know the story, but I had a hard time getting entertained during the movie. I know a lot of movies that I still watch and still find entertaining so it can't be that.

I'll blaming it on the quality of the movie.

This is a great movie. It has a slow start I guess, that even made me let to finish it in a second session, but it really pick up the pace in the second part.

It has great action scenes, great music the matches its Cold War era style, and even a compelling villain. It all makes sense.

Even though it's been some time since the last time I saw it, I've watched it a few times through out the years and that takes a bit of the enjoyment in this movie I guess.

Or maybe it was the slow start. I don't know. I'll give it a 4.

I watched it all in one sitting, but it's not a good movie. It has violence, but there are too many plot holes.

It makes it very unrealistic.

Not to say the way he kills everybody. It's just too far away from reality.

The story itself is very empty and the ending doesn't pay off because there's no setting up during the movie. It feels like it should have a impact but it really does not.

At least I can actually see what he's doing in the action because of the steady camera. Good job, Hollywood! Other than that, I don't think there's much to be saved.

Wonder Woman (2017)
It's obviously the best the DC cinematographic project has produced to this day, what's not saying much. It started a bit slow and it's full of cringe-worthy moments of empowerment, but it could be worse.

At least it avoids popular tropes attached to women in cinema. That's a bingo.

The action scenes picked up in the later half and looked a bit shallow to me, very fantasious.

I'd give it a 3 out of 5. It's not a movie I'll want to watch ever again.

This movie is entertaining as hell. That awful trailer did spoil the whole plot, but even then I could have a good time.

Now, where does this movie stand on the raking of Spider-Man movies? I think it's third, just because I like Sam Raimi movies way too much, but I'll give a few more runs and maybe I'll change my mind.

One thing for sure is that they nailed Peter Parker for the first time and the tone of the movie is perfect. The villan is manacing, makes sense, and the plot as a whole works handsomely.

It got a better rating than the other ones, but that's just a matter of how much it entertained me this time.

The thing is... I like heist movies. And I was down to a movie about driving skills. But the way the story turned out wasn't that great.

It's way too fantasious. Not the driving, which was also fantasious, but the actual plot. I mean, there's a f-ing rainbow in the ending scene... That's crossing a line right there.

I guess what really bothered me was that I expected a action movie and it turned out to be a love story. A very poor love story.

The whole movie seems empty and shallow, and I guess the story could have been better told in cinema.
