Yet for those who make the effort, it is good fun to play. The training mode and the first level offer help in breaking in the less experienced player, and once you get going, it's hard not to get into the swing of things. There are various boss characters to take out (a job you can make easier by fully utilising the versatility of those spider's webs you fire) and their henchmen can invariably be disposed of with the enhanced kick and punch combos.

Ultimately, a perfect Spiderman game this is not, and for the inevitable third Spidey adventure, there's certainly work to be done. But take this for what it is--a flawed but enjoyable action game--and chances are you'll enjoy it more than you expect to. --Simon Brew
