Long Live the Queen review

Posted : 9 years, 10 months ago on 7 July 2014 08:44

This visual novel is rather good for its genre. I'm not usually into Anime or Manga, whether it is in the form of a game, a comic, or a cartoon - let face it, there's not really much difference between the three.

Long live the Queen does provide a lot of entertainment, however, even if there is little in the way of graphic effects. The plot is moved forward by dialogue alone, reusing the same 4 or 5 background pictures, with varying Anime characters, depending on whom you are currently talking to (much like any other game of its genre).

There is a pretty good dress-up component in the game, if you like that sort of thing, but the game is mostly about picking which classes the young princess should take, to best prepare her for her future. Every once in awhile, the pricess is tested in different subjects, and some of these tests can prove fatal, if the needed skill is too low.

It is surprisingly difficult to survive for more than a few weeks, and don't expect to complete the game in the first playthrough (or the next ten). In fact, it seems that you must pick the exact right class to train at the right times, with little or no margin of error, to successfully reach your coronation...
