14 Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)

Comic book fans tend to stick to what they know, and it's always difficult to replace a familiar hero with a newbie character. But Kyle Rayner beat the odds. Kyle was introduced as the new Green Lantern after Hal Jordan went insane and all but destroyed the Corps. In terms of personality and temperament, Kyle couldn't have been more different from Hal. But he thrived in the role and became the Green Lantern for a full decade. Even though Hal has been redeemed and returned to duty, Kyle remains an active hero and one of the few deemed worthy enough to wield a White Lantern ring. (Check out Green Lantern on Amazon)

It’s a good adventure/comedy movie. You just shouldn’t take this movie too seriously. If you watch it just to enjoy and have fun, you will! I will definitely watch it again someday.

Adventures in Babysitting review

I felt compelled to write review because the other ones I've read on here might put you off watching this. I really enjoyed this flick. It's a basic formula but done in a way that makes it pretty funny. Kids and adults alike can enjoy this just as long as you're not one for taking everything so seriously. Love the kids' performances, love Elisabeth Shue, it gives me people to root for and a little adventure to follow. Nice film to watch when chilling on a Sunday.l
My only caution is that for kids, there's a bit of foul language but hey, it was the 80s.
7/10.

An average movie

Since the ratings were pretty decent and since it was Chris Columbus’ directing debut, I was quite eager to check this flick. Furthermore, the title sounded pretty neat as well. Unfortunately, I thought the whole thing was rather disappointing. Indeed, in my opinion, the concept was actually really similar to ‘Home Alone’ which would be also directed by Columbus 3 years later and would turn out to be a massive box-office success. Indeed, it is rather similar in the sense that, even though it is basically about some kids involved in some seriously dangerous situations, the tone is actually really frivolous and the makers try to convince you that the whole thing is actually rather harmless, that nothing much is at stake and that the kids involved actually have the best time of their life. Well, I wasn’t really convinced. For example, at some point, one of the teenage boys flirt with a prostitute (without noticing that she is actually a hooker) and they find out that she is actually just a few years older than them and that she ran away from home. And they played this scene as if it was funny! Well, it wasn’t funny and even rather misguided. Later on, you had the young girl literally hanging from a roof, chased by some thug and, once again, I felt rather uncomfortable watching this. To conclude, even though the whole thing had some potential, it didn’t really work out for me and I don’t think it is really worth a look.

Jak X: Combat Racing review

Naughty Dog's popular 3D action franchise has transformed into something quite different this year. Gone are the days of Jak and Daxter's on-foot run-and-gun antics; they've been replaced with revving engines, burning rubber, and all-out vehicular mayhem. Jak X: Combat Racing is a good solid racing game skewed more towards to the karting-genre than straight-up arcade racing. There are hints of Twisted Metal thrown in for good measure, but for the most part, you can look forward to some challenging asphalt carnage and a little Jak-style humor to mix things up a bit.
It's worth stating that Jak X doesn't really bring anything radically new to the racing genre. It's all been seen and done a thousand times before. From the notion of picking up power-ups on the track to winning cups and unlocking new cars, parts, and drivers, it's all pretty standard stuff. But that's not a bad thing. Naughty Dog has paid attention to what makes a good, fun racer. The end result is an experience that works very well. There are times where you'll hit a wall when running certain events, and even a few times where you'll want to break your controller into small hate-filled pieces as the CPU A.I. cheats you out of a gold medal, but you'll keep coming back for more until you win. And ultimately, that's the hallmark of a good racer.
There's a story behind why Jak and company are competing in the "Combat Racing Championship" which unfolds nicely through the game's bulky single-player adventure mode. I'll not ruin the ins and outs of the plot, suffice it to say that unless they succeed, Jak and his teammates will wind up as worm bait. Adventure mode is split up into four distinct cups. You'll need to work your way in a linear fashion through the various different styles of races in order to earn enough points to unlock the next cup, and so on and so forth. Needless to say, the more points and races you win, the more credits you earn, enabling you to purchase upgrades for your cars.
