Frank Silva had a masters degree in light design and worked several films with David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Dune, Wild at Heart) before being cast as the killer Bob in Twin Peaks, after Lynch saw Silva's reflection in a mirror as he was building the set of Laura Palmer's bedroom. He died in 1995 from complications from AIDS.
