La Ciociara (Enhanced) 1960 - Two Women

Cesira and Rosetta are mother and daughter in WWII Italy. To escape the bombings, the widowed Cesira takes her teenage daughter to her home village. While they share a very close relationship, the two start to grow apart due to feelings for the same man, Michele. When Michele is ordered to guide soldiers through the mountains, Cesira and Rosetta return to their home in Rome. Facing tragedies and humiliations, the two women struggle toward regaining their pride and former relationship.

La Ciociara is an Italian film starring the beautiful Sophia Loren as the widowed mother Cesira. The role earned Loren the Oscar for Best Actress and Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival. When the movie was released in the US it was under the title Two Women. Starring alongside Loren as her daughter Rosetta is Eleonora Brown. Jean-Paul Belmondo stars as Michele.
