Being a big Scorsese fan, I had to watch this movie at some point. Since it has been released, it has actually reached a cult status but even though I liked it, I still consider it a minor piece of work in his illustrous career. I mean, it was interesting and entertaining enough but that's about it. For example, Griffin Dunne seems to be a nice guy and provides an allright perfomance but can you compare him with Robert de Niro at the top of his game ('Raging Bull', 'Taxi driver', 'Goodfellas', 'Casino', 'The King of comedy',...)?!? I don't think so. I thought that Rosanna Arquette and Linda Fiorentino were actually more interesting, especially Fiorentino, but the story didn't focus on them. Basically, it reminded of all those countless quirky indie movies during which a straight/average guy meets all kinds of excentric characters. Even though thanks to Scorsese's solid directing, I enjoyed it, I'm still not a fan of this genre. But still, it remains a good movie and is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in Scorsese's work.
