A good movie

I already saw this movie but since it was a while ago and since I had it on DVD, I was quite eager to check it out again. First of all, being a huge fan of Martin Scorsese’s work, obviously, I had to watch this movie at some point. Apparently, it has actually reached a cult status but, to be honest, even though I did like it, I still consider it a minor piece in his illustrous career. I mean, sure, it was interesting and entertaining enough but not much more than that as far as I was concerned. For example, Griffin Dunne seems to be a nice guy and he did deliver a solid performance but can you compare him with Robert de Niro at the top of his game? I don't think so. Concerning Rosanna Arquette and Linda Fiorentino, they were actually quite interesting, especially Fiorentino, but, unfortunately, the story didn't focus on them. Basically, the whole thing reminded me of all those countless quirky indie and mainstream comedies during which an average guy meets all kinds of excentric characters during some wild night and, even though this movie might be the best one ever made in this genre, I still think it is a rather weak gimmick. Anyway, to conclude, even if it never blew me away, it remains a pretty good movie and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in Scorsese's work.
