The game was released in North America on October 28, 2008, in Europe and Australia on October 30, 2008, in the United Kingdom and Ireland on October 31, 2008, and in Japan on December 4, 2008 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Fallout 3 takes place in the year 2277, 36 years after the setting of Fallout 2 and 200 years after the nuclear apocalypse that devastated the game's world in a future where international conflicts culminated in a Sino-American war in the second half of the 21st century. The game places the player in the role of an inhabitant of Vault 101, a survival shelter the size of a village, designed to protect a small number of humans from the nuclear fallout. When the player character's father disappears under mysterious circumstances, the player is forced to escape from the Vault and journey into the ruins of Washington D.C. to track him down. Along the way the player is assisted by a number of human survivors and must battle a myriad of enemies that inhabit the area now known as the "Capital Wasteland". The game has an attribute and combat system typical of an action strategy game but also incorporates elements of first-person shooter and survival horror games.
Following its release, Fallout 3 has received very positive responses from critics and a number of Game of the Year awards, praising in particular the game's open-ended gameplay and flexible character-leveling system. The NPD Group estimated that Fallout 3 sold over 610,000 units during its initial month of release in October 2008, performing better than Bethesda Softworks' previous game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which sold nearly 500,000 units in its first month. The game has also received post-launch support with Bethesda releasing five downloadable add-ons for the game.... (more)(less)

"Railway Rifle
Damage: 30
Ammo Capacity: 8
Rate of Fire: Medium
Ammo Type: Railway Spikes
Weight: 9 lbs
Personal Thoughts:
A custom-built, steam-powered weapon that can pin enemies and body parts to walls! It's a fun gun to shoot but ammo capacity is low. Only available through crafting, so you'll have to find the schematics and all the necessary components if you want to try out one of these rifles."
""What's the fuzz about this Fallout 3, ok let's give it a try" OMG OMG OMG I want to drink Nuka Cola and have my own vault and Pip boy and a servant robot."

""Fallout 3" is a pretty good game, not as atmospheric as the any of the STALKER games but is well made. It has a good story, good gameplay and a lot to do.
Rating: Buy it"

"Fallout 3 (2008)
Sequel to: Fallout 2 (1998)
Gap between games: 10 years
Was it worth the wait?: I thought it was a great game. The first two games may be more fun to play due to nostalgia, but I still thought Fallout 3 was a good game. "

I dont care for new vegas personally go figure.. Still playing 3 once in a while have yet to explore every single place on that map.
Fallout 3's story and character creation i really thought this would light that fire under game developers thats sourly needed. Character creation like this should be main stream, the Consoles can easily support the feature and its adds a some player attachment to there character as you have to invest t” read more
"Game Breaker: Fawkes
Why?
You can recruit Fawkes as a companion later in the game. That's not a game breaker, but the fact that he has ultra high hit points that regenerate (it takes five mini-nukes to bring him down) and wields an ultra-powerful Gattling Laser (with infinite ammo and no weapon damage effects), make him quite a formidable foe!"
"Current State of the Planet:
The game takes place in a nuclear wasteland, fraught with the perils of an irradiated world. Food, weapons, and sanitation are extremely difficult to come-by, yet savage raiders, mutated creatures and a mysterious military force of killers are all pretty common place.
